My black cat LOVES to dig up a storm  and the litter I had been using WBCT makes her look like sugar coated devil's food cake. I a trying the walnut cat litter but it's not as good at absorbing odor nd my husband cat see the truss s=well so scooping isn't as complete as with light colored litter. Any suggestions?

Try a basic clay litter like Petco's house brand or Dr. Elsey's.  My cats are diggers too, and long haired to boot, and lightweight litters are more likely to go flying and get caught in their hair.  I too long for a lightweight non-clay cat litter, but I don't think that's happening.  After suffering a temporary lapse of logic, I tried Perfect Litter and the scatter/tracking, compared to Dr. Elsey's, was not to be believed.

You didn't mention litter scatter, but I expect that's a problem too.  I minimized that problem by using a Sterilite bin with a door cut in the side.   The silly little pans they sell for absurd prices in pet stores are hopelessly inadequate for cats like mine.

that's why my rubbermaid box is  her litter pan and the walnut litter is working pretty well.
