I hv a 12yr old male Himalayan Persian that is my world. He was diagnosed with asthma a yr ago. I started prednisone every other day. He was responding to the steroid very good. He wasn't coughing anymore. Within the last 4 months the prednisone has started to not work. He has been coughing a lot every day, only peeing once a day, wont get off couch. When I shake the treat container he used to come running, now I hv to take treats to him. He used to follow my every move, now he just lays there w me all day literally. The vet checked him out n he lost 1 pound, n sd to give prednisone every day. But he just keeps getting worse. Does anyone have any suggestions to help me?

Sorry, I don't have any experience with a cat with asthma, but I'll bump this in the hopes that somebody who does will see it.

I would discuss with your vet using a rescue inhaler.  There is a device that is sold that attaches to one and that is designed for a cat's face.  quite easy to use with a couple minutes of instruction and I have seen a lot of badly asthmatic cats respond very well to this.
