Last Friday I took the male stray that I've been caring for, in for a shot. I was planning on having him neutered in a few weeks, when I'd be able to have him confined in a room of his own. However, the vet convinced me that the procedure was so simple that he'd be fine the next day. When I picked him up, I was told that he'd have to be confined for a week,as I thought, and wear a collar to prevent licking.
He slept that entire night and the next day he was fine except he was dragging his rear. I brought him back to the vet and he got a shot of pain medication and I was told to apply cold compresses because he was inflamed. Yesterday and today he was very lethargic and still seemed to be in pain.
We went back to the vet today and she has no idea what's wrong with him. He's not red or swollen and he doesn't have a fever but even she said that he looked like he didn't feel well. He just is not acting at all like himself and still appears to be in pain. I'm worried and I feel terrible for putting him through this. If he doesn't improve, I might take him to a different vet. In the meantime, has anyone had a similar experience?
