Our fur family has expanded to 4 furry babies.  Emmie showed up in our backyard a few weeks ago, just before some big rains and cold temperatures set in.  My intention was to find her a good family, but I think our family is her good family.  No idea how old she is, but I'd guess somewhere around 5-7 months, even though she's so tiny.  In her first week with us, she gained one pound!  She was quite mouthy when we first brought her inside, but once she learned she was safe and receiving regular meals, she's calmed down quite nicely.  She's actually the calmest cat I've ever experienced!  She doesn't play, unless I initiate it.  She loves to snuggle and hang out on the couch, cuddled up on the afghan.  She's learning to make friends with the residents, but so far, no friendships have formed.

Hi Emmie is a darling kitty.Did you have to keep her separated from your other cats at first? 4 must be the magic number!  I just adopted my 4th rescue Kitty yesterday. We will be out of town overnight so we won't be bringing her home until Fri. Her name is Beauty. She is estimated to be about 1 1/2 y/o. I couldn't resist her.

@CalTriTwiAmb4 we did keep her separate from our other 3 for about 2 weeks while we tried to find her family and because we hadn't had her tested for any of the nasties.  She'd gone to the vet for a microchip test, basic checkup, and fecal for worms.  Once we decided her family wasn't looking for her and we were going to adopt her out, we got her tested and kitten shots started.  We moved her to a larger room for a few days, then started the introductions.  Each day gets better.  She stays out all day and night, and no fighting or anything.

Hi again Stephanie, I bring my new  female rescue cat Beauty home this Fri. Foster Mom is keeping her because I did not want to bring her home last Sunday and then leave her when I go out of town for 24 hours on this Wed .I am worried enough about leaving my other 3 cats home alone.

I have three  female cats. Now almost 2 y/o Trinity was the first I had her for 2 months and then I introduced her to 4 w/o Twilight without a problem I think I might have kept Twilight in the bathroom for 2 days. Maybe it went so smooth because Trinity had her own kittens a few months before I adopted her (baby having babies.) So she still had the mother instinct. She would grab Twilight and just start bathing her she was also tolerant of her rough playfulness.

3 months later  6 m/o Amber came next . I don't remember exactly how long I kept Amber in my daughter's room but not more than 4 or 5 days. She took to Twilight well maybe because they were both playful kittens.Triny and Amber took more time to come around (Amber less accepting of Trinity despite being the new kid on the block!) but no fighting at all, just a little growling hissing and Amber batting at Trinity.

The three are not  loving of each other  they don't cuddle together. But will clean each other. Twilight and Amber still play together chasing each other. The 3 cats and dog just tolerate each other. Twilight and Callie my dog more so because I think when Twilight was just 4 weeks old she would sleep snuggled with Callie while they both slept with me so they bonded more when Twilight was just a baby.

Now it is 9 mo. later and I will be introducing 1 and 1/2 y/o female Beauty to all 3 cats and the dog. I am not worried about Beauty with the my cats because she has spent a year in a garage with 15 other cats and kittens according to her rescue Mom. Her Mom says she thinks Beauty needs a calmer quite environment than the one she is currently in. However Beauty has not been around dogs and I have one mellow male dog Callie.Hopefully Beauty does not have a dislike for dogs. Foster Mom did not know but did not think there would be a problem.  No problem at all in any other introductions to my cats to my dog. I was very surprised that after 3 years of having Callie with only other dogs he was well behaved with the cats moving into his territory. Maybe because they are all female.

In my experience it is difficult keeping a cat confined behind a closed door. I am going to try to take it slow and read again about all the suggestions and steps to take during the introduction process. Beauty will stay in my daughter's room during the initial separation. Which will also help the 2 of them bond. Amber stayed in her room and I really believe that is why Amber is more attached to my daughter now. My daughter and I will have 4 days remaining of my vacation from work when we bring Beauty home which will help to be home to monitor the situation and to give all equal attention

Sorry this post got so lengthy.

She's a truly good looking kitten...and great photos. I find myself wanting to reach into the computer and pet her. My family expanded recently too when a stray tiger tabby about that age chose my garage as a refuge for her five little ones. One is a seal lynx point bicolor female that really stands out amid her four tabby siblings. Hope all goes well with the assimilation.
