I am going to ask a question about something very near and dear to my heart....naps.

Do you take naps?  Do you WISH you could?  Or wish you didn't need them?

I love a good nap.  Always have.  Even when I was in high school I'd come home and stretch out on my bed for a little bit some days.  I used to take a nap on the couch after work sometimes too.  When my kid were smaller I'd nap when they napped as often as I could!  Those were the days...  Now my kids think they don't need naps.
Don't they know MOMMY needs one!?

Last week I managed 2 naps while my kids had quiet time.  I actually felt good enough to tackle the evening after them.
  I was born to nap!

I have a guilt thing about sleeping during the day.

I make up for it by listening to a Yoga Nidra CD instead... and if I happen to fall asleep, well I must have needed it mustn't I?.

Napping is something I very rarely do. Every once in a while I might fall asleep while reading in bed, but that's not planned and is usually only for about 20 minutes.

I never have time to nap anymore. I wish I did. I seldom did in the past either since I've always had a job to go to right after school. I love naps.

I don't make napping a habit. If I do, then I have trouble falling asleep at night. Even talking about napping makes me want to
.

A couple months ago, it was just one of my co-workers and me in the office; it was still fairly early. I was reading a planning article and fell asleep. My phone rang and it was my co-worker, who told me that he could hear me snoring!

I never really took naps until I was diagnosed with my Thyroid Cancer (ok, about a year prior being officially diagnosed). I was constantly tired!

Now I take naps when I am home and no plans. I just hate waking up with headaches or feeling groggly!

Oh yes, nap time, aka 'siesta' is in my blood, I'm Sicilian descent!  Over there, all businesses shut down from noon to 3 PM, folks go home, have lunch, nap, then return to work.  Here at my home, I feed my dogs at noon, eat my lunch, then we all take a nap.  The dogs know the routine, and will head off to the bedroom (they allow me to sleep on 'my' bed, lol).  One will bark if I take too long in joining them!

Back when I was working, I often ate my lunch at my desk or in the car, drove home and had a short30 - 40 minute nap before returning to work.  (No one knew I did this).  Days when we did a 'working lunch meeting' did me in!

Growing up, we got a puppy when I was age 6.  Every afternoon, my Mum would feed the 'baby,' put on classical music, send the puppy to her bed, and have a half hour of quiet time.  She'd sit in a chair in the living room (where we kept the dog's bed), and rest her eyes.  She did this with both our puppies, 11 years apart, lol.

I never really slept much, as a baby I didn't even take naps. I remember hanging out in my crib, bored bored bored, while my mother had naps. I had to be very quiet because she would be mean if I woke her up. When I was 3years old I stopped sleeping completely (long bad story). Doctors couldn't figure out why but nobody told them the real reason was what was going on at home.

But in the last 5 years or so, it seems I fall asleep whenever I lie down to relax. I take naps whenever I feel like it now, and sleep really really well these days. I guess I'm finally catching up!

I love napping.  Weekends are the only time it's possible.  I don't do it too frequently, because when I go down, I sleep for hours and usually wind up feeling cruddier than before I did.  But, I do enjoy it.

When we go on cruises we call it our cruise snoozes.  Best thing in the world.

I never plan to take a nap, I just fall asleep.  Sometimes it's when I'm reading and my eyes get so tired and I lay my head back and just  nod off.  It could be for twenty minutes or even an hour.  This is usually between 3 and 5pm.  I know age has something to do with it

...with the cats...
i generally prefer not to nap, because it throws off my sleep at night usually. however, during periods of time that i have a lot of things going on and/or stressful times i do take naps as needed. i know i need to lay down for a nap when i'm so tired/worn out that my eyes are trying to close on their own. of course, snick and jasper love when i take a nap because they get to snuggle in with me and nap too.

I don't generally nap any day except maybe Sunday afternoon if we are home. I love to get on the porch sofa with the Sunday paper and something to drink. I fall asleep and wake up with cats all around. At least I did when I had "cats". Now it is just Mattie. But she gets on my chest and sleeps. That was Speedboats place, but he is gone. At night after supper, I try to go ahead and get my bath. The reason is, if I don't I fall asleep if I sit down. Then I have trouble sleeping when I get up and have to get a shower and go to bed.

I love napping. It hasn't really happened since Hudson was born. He sleeps all morning and wakes up around noon and Aimee goes down around 12:30-1 so I don't get a chance to lay down anymore. Yesterday Hudson fell asleep on me and I fell asleep sitting up for half an hour. It was uncomfortable, but nice to get a little sleep during the day.

I always worked the 3-11 shift until my now 9 y/o daughter turned 2 and I put her in a day care. Then for child care reasons I switched to 7-3 shift. Since working days I am unable to take naps. I try but can't fall asleep. Sometimes when I return from work I will doze off while on the computer or reading but thats about it. When I worked 3-11 I had no trouble napping during the day.

I hate naps! I always feel worse after - grumpy, achy, sicky and groggy.

Just not made for them I suppose, no matter where I am, how I doze off, when it is, meals prior etc. And I don't wish I could :lol3:

I occassionally take an afternoon nap and enjoy it. Paul naps almost every day - around 2 pm. My late mother always took naps and she just loved them.
