My cat is about 6 yeara old, newly adopted. She sleeps almost 24/7 which is fine but I would like her to play sometimes a. Because it's healthy for her to get exercise and b. I read it was a good way for us to bond?

So far she has ignored the toys such as bell balls on string, cat nip toys and ping pong balls, any ideas to get an older girl moving!?

How long have you had her?  She may just still be feeling her feet.  She also may not have ever really learned to play.. Where did you adopt her from and do you know her past?

Some cats, though, just don't play.  My two are so lazy!  They want me to dangle DaBird just over their heads so they can swat at it

Are you sure she is sleeping that much?    I had a cat that was depressed and while she would be sedentary she wouldnt sleep 24/7.   You might want to see if she is running a low grade fever.

mani mani !! She came from a good home! Her previous owner had an add up for her 'free to a good home' as she was moving country and couldn't take her. From what I can gather she was a family pet, rescued as a kitten, but in essence was left to her own devices. She was an indoor cat turn indoor/outdoor cat and is now once again an indoor cat at my house! We have had her possibly 2 weeks now and she was roaming around 5 days into coming to her new home! My cat fanatic friend (who happens to be the previous owners sister, I thought it was important for Kittems to have contact with familiar faces) said that was a remarkably short amount of time for her to be comfortable enough to do!

You may be right though! She seems happiest snoozing besides of course meal times haha!! ^_^

I am fairly sure she is sleeping, as I often check on her, she has many hidey holes we put around the house and she is always in a slumber when we go to check! Her previous owner also mentioned that she was quite a lazy cat :) zoneout zoneout

Cats sleep. A lot.  They're very good at it.

She sounds very content to me, and very happy to be with you.

mani mani just thought I'd update that my little Kittems has started to play ( a bit! ) she is a lot more comfortable in her new surroundings and is used to her new routine! With lots of love and affection given to her she seems to have come out of her shell! She loves the old mouse on string game and I give her a treat if she catches it or after a particularly energetic session!

Thank you all for your advice! Much appreciated :) :) *Also that kitty playing is adorrrrabe!!!*
