I know that people food is not good for cats in general, and my cats almost never get any. However, if I (or more likely some of my guests) want to sneak my kitties a little Thanksgiving morsel from the table, what foods are okay, and what foods should be avoided at all costs? I know that turkey is probably okay, and their cat food has potatoes in it, so those should be alright. Pumpkin should be okay. I'm guessing that dressing is bad--not just the wheat but the onions that are in it. Also, no chocolate pie. What else?

I'd probably avoid everything but turkey. Maybe a dab of whipped cream if they like it. Even if they like veggies, they're hard for cats to digest so they could cause tummy trouble.

As for actually dangerous, probably just the chocolate and stuff containing onions. You also want to avoid anything that's too fatty, like turkey skin or more than a dab of whipped cream. Too much fat can cause pancreatitis.

Here are some tips:

Turkey - if it's been seasoned / brined / injected / etc with garlic or onion, do not feed it to a cat. Garlic and onion are hamrful to cats.

Bones - make sure to dispose of bones in the trash can and never give cooked bones to a cat. or dog.  Cooked bones can splinter and injure a cat or dog.

Grapes are toxic to cats. Keep that in mind if you serve grapes for dessert or use it as a table centerpiece or decoration.

Plain canned pureed pumpkin is ok for cats but not pumpkin pie filling or pumpkin that has been flavored with spices and other things.

My DD and I are not having the typical thanksgiving dinner so I bought a package of bone in skin on chicken breast. I will roast one of those (unseasoned) and slice it up and add some to their dinner with some of the natural juices from the chicken. they will be very happy with that.
