hi! I am new to this site.  I found it today looking for help.  My spayed cat attacks me only when she sees other female cats in the back yard.  This is getting scary and I do not know what to do.  Any suggestions? This is Nikki!

Welcome to the forums!  Very beautiful cat.

Cats are territorial by nature.  She is protecting her turf inside and out.  She is threatened by the other cat so she lashes out at you.  This is known as redirected aggression.  You can try blocking the windows where she sees this cat and staying out of her way when she sees this cat.

Here is an article that discusses redirected/displaced cat aggression

Thank you very much ShadowsRescue - I will read the article.  We already covered up the window, but it's too sad my other cats aren't able to enjoy it.

If you are certain it's another cat, you can get motion sensor sprinklers that go off when something walks by.  It will usually keep the cat away.  I have seen them used on Jackson Galaxy's "My Cat from Hell".

Can you move your other cats to another window?  Maybe provide a bird feeder at a new location.  Get a cat tree or other device for them to enjoy a new spot!
