Im the lucky person in my house that archy likes. When he was a kitten I wasn't the chosen one haha it was only until we got a dog and all the attention went to poppy (the dog) ever since then he has always been close to me. I dont know if its because I give him attention when no one else would. Anyhew back to the main point. Archy always comes to me for cuddles on a morning when he comes home and will stay in my bedroom on the bed or on some clothes I have lying around. He will sometimes not go out on a night and will sleep with me. When im lying in bed he will arrange himself to be close and pressed against me. When ever my hand is lose he will always try and rest his head in my hands and will purr like crazy.
I've aked all my friends with cats and they haven't had their cat act the same.
has anyone else had the same experience? What does it mean (I know its affection but what type)?

Aww, Archy is a sweetie!

Cats show their affection to their humans in so many different ways and degrees.
It is obvious your Archy is very attached to you. At my home, I have both the "clingy" kitty and the "you-are allowed-to-pet-me-for-20 seconds-max" cat.
They are both a joy to have.

ha, our mikki does that with my husband...and because my husband kept his arm all night in a certain position with mikki's head in his hand, hubby suffered a major shoulder nerve injury that took months to heal lol

My girl often does this when I'm asleep or heading that way.  I think she just wants to be really close, but I also think she really hopes I'll wriggle my fingers and give her a scratch..

Trinity  jumps up on the bed and repeatedly nudges my hand over and over as I am petting her as if to let me know not to stop. And I don't think she likes to be petted on one spot on her head neck or chest for long and that is why she will repeatedly roll her head in my hand over and over again to change were my hand is petting her. She never would let me pet her anywhere else but now she will let me pet her back and up to her tail. And if I am very very gentle she will let me rub her belly and her legs very briefly before she will nip or scratch me while  kicking her paws at me like my arm is one of those kicking toys. She will not let me hold her when she rubbing her head in my hands but will only lay next to me or on my pillow. She will let me pick her up very briefly before she wants down. I call it scoop and snuggle.

Amber will climb up in bed and will lay next to me and likes to rest one leg and paw on my arm like she is holding me close. She will let me pet her head and neck but seems to prefer just lying still with her leg resting my arm. She however is much more tolerant belly rubs. She will also not let me pick her up for and hold her for very  long at all.

Twilight will jump up in the bed and swish her body and huge fluffy tail up and down along my side.  She loves when I pet her head and neck and likes me to rub her ears oddly enough rather roughly.  She will tolerate  a little gentle petting on her back and tail, but I do not dare approach her belly or she will nip and scratch and do the kicking thing.Twilight  is skittish around my daughter and rarely lets her pet her for very long and when she approaches to pick her up she runs. Despite Anna always being gentle with her. Anna has been scratched to the point of tears by Twilight and Trinity because sometimes she ignores the signs that they want down. I tell her she needs to recognize these signs or she will keep getting scratched. I tell her as soon as they squirm you need to release them right away. She is learning. Amber though I don't think has ever scratched her and tends to be attached to Anna and likes to lay with Anna until Anna goes to sleep. If Anna gets in the bed with me Amber will sleep close to Anna.

My cats do not voluntarily sit in my lap and will not stay if I try to hold them in my lap. All 3 of my cats do not wake me in the morning. Oddly as well if I am petting one cat and I call another cat over they will not come but will just lay at the end of the bed or will get down. I can never really pet more than one cat at a time.

My cat does this too although not when I'm going to bed. It's usually when she's sitting in my lap. She will nuzzle her head into my hand. I always thought that it was because it blocked out the light and was comfortable. She will also do this to blankets and pillows.
