Have anyone ever tried diapers on a cat?

I may be getting one of my former foster cats back after two years because he's been having peeing issues in his new home. Apparently he has peed on the bed, on the couch, on clothes, on rugs, etc. Sometimes he can go months without an incident and sometimes it will happen a few days apart.

I make a lifetime commitment to all my rescues so if the adopters won't keep him he's welcome back here. I'm not very excited about peeing issues either, though, and I want to come up with a way to deal with it. I have a few things in mind but if it turns out that it isn't working I considered putting a diaper on him. I've looked at cat diapers and they do make a kind that comes with a harness looking thing that goes over the shoulders so the cat can't take the diaper off. One thing I'm wondering about is if he wears a diaper all day how would he poop if he has to? How has others dealt with this issue? Pooping in the diaper would not be a good option either for the kitty or me. I have a dog that wears diapers because she's incontinent but I take it off when we go outside to go potty but cats go at will.

How has other people dealt with this issue? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I'm guessing he's been to a vet to check for medical issues for the peeing?

I've never used diapers for cats.  But I do have an old cat who has peeing issues.  I go through lots of puppy pads.  I put them under and around the litter boxes and have managed to train the cat (mostly by picking him up and putting him on the pads when I see him squatting) to go on the pads.  He rarely has an accident anywhere else now.

I used diapers on Montgomery when he was very small. He had to have ointment put on his bum many times each day and the diapers kept the ointment on the cat and gave him more freedom than a cone would have. We put sanitary pads in them. We made the diapers out of socks and Velcro as he was quite tiny. He didn't mind them much. Because he had no ability to control his bowels, we changed the pads many, many times each day. The unfortunate thing was that though the diapers worked for purpose we had in mind, he developed a diaper rash on his penis. So he was in his cone again for awhile.

Have you tried Dr. Elsey's Cat Attract?

The only time I have heard of them is for kitties with Manx syndrome and they usually are also incontinent with their bowels.  I am wondering since he goes long periods of time without an issue and then he will has several accidents if there is something going on either medically or there is a change in the environment which triggers the accidents.
