Hellooo!

So, my girl Lulu is just over 4 months old now, and I have noticed over the past month or two, she has been following me everywhere I go.  It's not crazy obsessive or strange like trailing right behind me everywhere or anything, however, she's never not in the same room as me. She is my only cat, and I adopted her when she was very, very young, just about six weeks old or so.  My boyfriend and I have a 2-story, 3 bedroom home, so we're not exactly cramped up or anything.

I do love it and think it's adorable, but I wonder why? Like, she will be completely asleep on her cat tree downstairs, and I'll go upstairs and 60 seconds later I turn around and there she is. If I get up from the couch to go into the kitchen, computer room, there she is after a minute or two She watches me shower/bathe, get ready in the morning, clean, do dishes, everything. She doesn't follow my boyfriend around, just me (well, I AM her mama, after all
) , even though he loves her a ton and gives her a lot of affection/attention as well.

It's obvious by now that she genuinely makes a strong effort to be in the same room as me. For example, tonight I left her upstairs in our bed with my boyfriend as he went to sleep early, and she was dosing off as well. Like clockwork, 2 minutes later I see her walking down the stairs to where I am in the living room. Or the other morning, we were all 3 downstairs and Lulu was eating and perfectly content and preoccupied with her toys, etc and not paying attention to my whereabouts much at all, I go up to get ready in our master bathroom and again, less than a few minutes later....in walks Lulu. Haha. It's stuff like that, ALL the time! She always sleeps right next to (or on me), too.

This isn't much of a concern of mine behavior-wise really at this point, I'm just mostly curious honestly as to why she does this. Just loves me? Attached/dependent? Will she grow out of it? Is this a good thing? :)

Thanks everyone!

<3 Crystal

she's the only animal in the house? while most cats are pretty independent, some can be a little clingy. i would think she just likes being around you.. it probably makes her feel safe. i wouldnt worry about it.

I agree with the previous poster.

One of our cats follows my husband around like a little dog.  He's been doing it for five years!  He's just super attached to hubby--it's really very cute.
