My cat has redness and swelling around his penis

Hi, my 7 year old male cat Ethen has, as I just noticed redness and swelling around his penis opening.

For the past 2 days he has been licking the area a little more than usual but hasn't shown signs of discomfort while peeing or using the littler box.

He's usually a house bound cat, but I take him to the garden for a walk occasionally, he usually just sits in the dirt and nibbles on the grass sometimes.

He has just recovered from a ruptured anal gland and I don't know if these two issues are related or not.

Though I'm planning on taking him to the vet today, I thought I'd ask if anyone's cats have had similar experiences with the redness and swelling.

I've had this problem with one of my cats just recently actually. I took him to the vet's straight away and he was prescribed antibiotics and an anti inflammatory; he was better within a few days.

I'm not sure whether it's related to the ruptured anal gland, but I wish you both good luck. ^_^
