Homemade treats for cat with kidney disease

My cat was just diagnosed with kidney disease (early stage.  I was told that, in terms of treats (which he loves), the best option was to make homemade treats.  I've been searching everywhere on the internet and I am not having much luck finding recipes.  Does anyone have any ideas, recipes, or know of any websites that would have recipes for suitable treats?

Perhaps what the person meant by "homemade treats" is something that you may already have in the kitchen that could be given to a cat such as boiled pieces of chicken. Many cats love plain cooked chicken and other meats. Meat only baby food (no garlic or onion) can also be given as an occasional treat.
