My sister lives in Jerusalem, Israel. In this time of turmoil and violence over there, one small cat needs our prayers. Her much loved, more than 10 year old tuxedo cat is at the vet, with a feeding tube. He stopped eating, became jaundiced, has a high white count - not good. He did a little better yesterday, is fatigued again today. She loves this cat very much, is visiting daily, brought a shirt she'd worn for a few days to leave in his cage for comforting. Vet said maybe FIP but maybe not. If need be, she is prepared to have him euthanized but we're all hoping this will not be necessary. Please send prayers for his recovery. TIA

Pandalin is still far from well but he is not deteriorating. My sister e-mailed that when she visited today and entered the room where he is caged Pandalin stood up and shakily walked forward toward her. He brought his front paws and head out of the cage, she patted him, then put her hand palm up so his head was resting on it. She stood there for half an hour while he slept, head on her hand.

I had tears in my eyes, reading this.

My sister had knee surgery not too long ago, walks with a cane. Understand that in order to visit him, every day, she takes a taxi to the veterinarian, then bus and light rail to return home.  And will do, willingly, what is important for her sweet cat. She does have another, somewhat younger cat at home. Both were adopted street cats.

Thank you all for your good wishes and prayers.

That is amazing that she's making that journey every day to see him. We take it for granted that we're fairly close to our vets here (in the US).  I hope Pandalin has a full and speedy recovery so he can go home to his mommy and sibling soon!

I will keep praying for Pandalin.

His condition deteriorated and Pandalin was euthanized earlier today. My sister feels that his laying with his head in her hand was a farewell. She described his burial on a kibbutz where her ex-daughter-in-law lives. It sounds very nicely done. Taxi to vet to pick up his body, taxi to kibbutz, then home by bus with the empty cage. I don't think I could have been so strong.
