Hello, I joined this forum specifically for this.
I have a 19 year old cat who's a family member to us, we love him so dearly.
He had a tumor removed from his mouth last year. Early this year he had a lump on his tail, the vet said it was another tumor and amputated most of the tail.
Only a few months later, he has a new large lump on his tail. He already has kidney failure, I can't put him under anesthesia again, he's too frail. The skin on his tail looks very sore and raw. Is that caused by the tumor? We have moved house and we haven't got a vet yet. We keep his tail stump clean regularly (he's too old to groom himself) and put Neosporine on the raw sore parts. I know he's not going to be with us much longer, but any suggestion on how to make him more comfortable for the time he has left would be immensely appreciated. I am worried about the poor raw skin of his tail, why would it be like that?
Thank you so much for any help.
