Hi there,

Does anyone have any idea what this spot is?  It's on the surface of her eye.  I noticed it about a week ago.  Before the spot appeared, every once in a while, she would keep that eye closed as if it was sore.

Thanks

I should add that it doesn't appear to be bothering her.

I would take her to the vet asap. You don't want to mess around when it comes to the eyes. I'm not a vet but from the pic it looks like a corneal sequestrum which can be caused by a none healing corneal ulcer which is extremely painful.

I agree, she needs to have that checked out.

You might seeif you can find a cat opthamologist (not kidding).  Ask your regular Vet if they are aware of any if you have trouble locating one.  Of all the cases of "eye freckles" or "iris melanosis", etc. that I've read about here on TCS, it seems they've all ended up seeing a Vet Opthamologist, so I figure you might just save a step by going there first.

Hopefully this is nothing serious, but definitely should get it checked out.

I made an appointment today.  She didn't appear to be in pain until this morning.

Thanks
