Hi, I've just recently joined the site, although I've looked at forums here for a while. I do a LOT of rescue work and have seen a lot of things, but this one is kind of new on me. I have a foster kitten (about 4 months old) with issues in her back legs. For the most part, she keeps her back legs straight in front of her. They can bend, but it's as if she doesn't know how? I've been doing physical therapy with her, trying to teach her how, but i don't know if she gets it. She's incredibly sweet. Any ideas? Her name is Coriander, aka Corie.

Sounds like a neurological issue. Has she seen a vet and had X-rays done? Do you think she has any feeling in her legs?

Poor girl - I've not heard of that issue before. Has she had bloodwork done? She looks like she's had a rough time of it. I'm so glad you're looking out for her, she looks like she could use people on her side. :vibes:

I have not heard of that, but I do have a cat (stray who was a mom brought him and 2 siblings to me 4 years ago and left) who has "deformed hips" that are set too far outside the body.  It was discovered when he was a kitten and had an ultrasound done for what we thought might have been a gastrointestinal obstruction (but turned out he was just stressed out due to company and refused to eat).  Anyway, the vet told me that he would likely need help jumping up onto high places when he is older.  He is 4 now, and he still tends to "walk" to the spots my other cats jump to, so I am guessing he is not made to jump basically straight up like my other two.  His gait is a little odd, and he is quite bowlegged, but I am okay with "helping" him if needed as he gets older when they warned arthritis may be an issue.  I hope your little rescue adjusts to whatever may be going on.
