I don't know weather anyone will see this, but my whole family feel the same as allot of people on here, and reading these posts have brought a small comfort as we now have a idea of what might have happened to our special cat Marshmellow. He was 6months old a outdoor cat, perfect health, little shy, playful and VERY kind and loving, we got a knock on the door from our neighbour a couple of doors down saying she found a dead white cat in her alleyway, we went to see who it was and it was our Marshmellow he was collapsed on the floor like he was in a walking position and just suddenly fell, he had no cuts, no blood, no injuries, no foam at the mouth, nothing. We then phoned the vets to get him examined for what caused the death but it was 5 pound per minute then more money for him to get examined by a necropsy for actual cause of death we didn't have the money so we had a funeral, buried him in our back garden where he loved to play, we also planted some white flowers as Marshmellow was fully white, We just don't know what caused this as he had no bad heatlh signs, but thinking about it now he did have gunky eyes (not that bad), and he couldn't jump as good as his brother and sister, and he did sleep allot, but we just thought he was really lazy as his brother and sister are too. Does anybody have any idea what he died off? Sorry if my words seem alittle jumbled im writing this through tears as we only lost him yesterday and we all really really loved him and will never forget our Marshmellow.

I'm very sorry about your devastating loss. Six months is way too short a life. He could have died of a number of things, but it does sound like his passing was sudden and he was spared suffering, which might be some consolation. RIP, Marshmallow. :rbheart:

First off, I am very sorry for your loss. I too lost a kitten when I had just gotten him along with her sister and he died in my arms a week later. He also just collapsed (being only 3 weeks old) and would not open his eyes, but he was still alive. I took him to a vet and told me he was dehydrated and told me to give him some fluids. He got better but collapsed again and died that same night. I was devastated. He would not eat and would also sleep a lot. If this also describes how your cat was maybe the same thing happened to him.

Again, I am so sorry for your loss. I hope you feel better soon [emoji]9829[/emoji]

I'm so very sorry for your loss, I know it takes a long time to mend a broken heart. It sounds like it was sudden, which in my mind is good, I hate the thought of lingering and suffering. With any death this sudden it sounds like the heart, and since many white cats can have a few congenital genes that can bring on problems, one of the most common is deafness, your sweet baby might have inherited a congenital heart condition.Of course many are fine too. This is something you cannot 'predict' unless you knew the history of both parents, and sometimes it takes the combination of the parent genes to produce something like deafness or heart conditions, so you would never know. I know it is so very hard, but try to remember your Marshmellow and the happy times, not the death. It sounds like Marshmellow lead a happy, loved life and lived his life doing what he wanted to do, he knew he was loved and will be forever held in your heart. Bless you for loving so much to hurt this bad, and thank you for letting the world know about your sweet baby, I'll keep you both in my thoughts and prayers. RIP beautiful Marshmellow!

I'm so terribly sorry for your sudden and unexpected loss of your dear Marshmellow.  It does sound like it was most likely a congenital heart condition by your description of his behavior.  I lost a feral cat to a heart attack, he also died suddenly with no signs of any other trauma.  I found him in his outdoor house just lying there like he had gone in to go to sleep.  The vet said it was very sudden when I had his body examined.  Like your Marshmellow, I always noticed he walked slower and seemed much less active than the other cats.  He never ran and didn't venture far from the house.  He just didn't have the energy of the other cats.  The vet believed it was a congenital heart condition.  It was very sad, but I took comfort in knowing that he didn't suffer.  It doesn't help the feeling of loss, but at least you did not have to watch him suffer.  He was loved for his very short time on this Earth, thanks to you.
