Yesterday we lost our poor little 2 week old kitten that we had been hand rearing since it could not suckle. Unbeknownst to us at the time she had a severe cleft palate that the vet said would not be able to be fixed for months and maybe not even then, with months of stressful tube feeding for the little girl and high risk of starvation then multiple painful surgeries that may not even work. We made the extremely hard decision to avoid this suffering and put her to sleep but in spite of this decision the pain is still very hard for all of us. I keep thinking what if we had done something.

You were only with us for a short time little bear but you have made a difference that will last a lifetime, we miss you and we love you xxx

I'm sure she wormed herself into your heart, it doesn't take long. I want to thank you for trying to give her a chance, and for not letting her go through all that suffering. You will be blessed for your love and for the decision to end her pain and the break in your heart for doing so.  She knew love and tenderness in her short life, and I'm sure it helped her to have you there at the end to comfort her. My heart breaks for the tiny life that will never be, the heavens have gained one more beautiful angel. Please celebrate the love you shared, try not to dwell on the should haves and could haves, it only brings sorrow. RIP tiny one, you will never be forgotten!

aww...I'm so sorry but truly understand the decision. Bless your heart for all you did for her.

I'm so sorry the little one didn't make it. At least he knew love and care during his too short life. :rbheart:
