Not to toot my own horn or anything. . . . but I just have to share the good news! After 40 hours of intensive classes. . . hours of homework. . . hours of studying. . . . I took the NH/National Real Estate Exam for my sales license (first time). . . . and I passed! Now to figure out where who I'm going to sell for (I have to choose a broker and apply for my license).

I already work. . . but want extra $$$$. . . my daughter is in college. . . planning a wedding. . . and I'm a single mom. . . .

There's just never enough of it growing on that tree in the back yard!

Those exams are tough! Good for you in passing, and giving yourself another avenue of income. I worked in a real estate office for a few years and loved the energy there.

Congrats! One of my mom's close friends just got into real estate and I can't even describe how stressed out she was about the test. But she passed on her first try, like you, that's awesome!

CONGRATS! I'm taking the NJ real estate course night now and will be taking my exam in about three weeks! I can't wait until it is over
we have 75 hours of school! So I can totally relate with your excitment! Make sure to talk to LOTS of brokers and dont be shy about asking about fees and everything. I currently work for a brokers so i'm going to stay put!

75 hours???! Eeee gads. And I thought 40 was torture.
Good luck to you with your exam. Just a hint with the studying. . . . . I found that doing the practice tests at the end of each chapter, along with the practice tests given to me by the instructor were the most helpful. If I got the answers wrong, I referred to the book for the reason so I better understood why, then when I was done with all the test questions, I went back and did all the ones that I got wrong.

I also took a day off from my current job so I could cram before the test. . . . and went to the library. My house is too distracting with housework & a teenaged son. . . . not to mention my 2 kitties!

Congrats! Be careful though market is pretty rough right now. I work at a real estate firm--was wondering why I didn't get a raise this year! To make real good money in real estate, IMO...takes years (unless you are lucky and do ALOT of marketing for yourself). A lady at my office has been doing real estate for 20 years and makes 200K a year (give or take), but on the other end we have a new agent who has been there for 3 years, and has to keep a full-time job. She makes less than 10K a year from real estate. Good luck!!

Thanks for the advice. I'm only looking to supplement my income. I would not quit my regular job which includes benefits (health, dental, disability & life insurance, savings/retirement plan, tuition reimbursement, paid vacations/sick days).

I know the Real Estate market has its ups and downs. Fortunately I live in a community that is "up & coming" . . . . houses have been flying off the market.

Yes, congrats, that's a great step to make. I thought about doing it myself when I was looking for a home. I just purchased my 1st home on September 22.. and I absolutely
it!
