ripped out stitches

So about two days ago zelda got fixed, and as much as we could keep an eye on her she still managed to rip out her stitches this morning on our way home while on  the bus (We got trapped in another town for two days because all the buses except ours were running). It looks pretty muched closed up and we put a band new dog t-shirt on her that is big enough to keep her from licking it more. Do we still have to take her back to the vet?
My fiance is curious if we can put band aids over it but I wont let her do it until we know its safe to do.
is there anything else we can do?

I had the same thing happen with Molly when she was fixed.  Good thinking on the shirt to cover it though.  I wouldn't recommend the band aids to cover.  I would call your vet and explain the situation to them.  When this happened to my cat the vet put on some surgical glue just to help keep the incision closed.
