Yeah i really shouldnt of looked lol, google is evil- ive abandoned google now its day light hours and cleaning the house top to bottom as i can do the hoovering/ moving furniture without neighbours complaining. I even pulled up the vinyl floor in the kitchen, probably not the best idea but its a little better then driving myself insane.. I think !? Especially after whar happened with you and your girly as it is something that i would definetly do now.
I spoke to both sets of vets this morning, lady who said i should put him to sleep last night well 2am this morning admitted just a few hours later he was eat lots and sitting up and purring. Yes he was tired last night and he definetly is very ill but hes not the most active cat in the world when hes 100% well he prefers a cuddle to anything else and has a mad 10 minutes like most cats do i guess.
My eyes are sore from crying, at lunch time ill find out the plan for the week end and hopefully get more answers

I'm so glad the night vet agrees he's doing better than she's been suggesting. That suggestion seemed truly out of nowhere. Have you and your vet decided on a plan for the weekend yet?

LOL about the floor in the kitchen! What was under there? All hail the power of nervous energy! And I am so glad your pup is looking out for you, what a sweetheart.

I spoke to the receptionist 3 hours ago, he is apparently brighter then this morning but couldn't arrange anything with vet as he was in surgery, little annoyed as thats the time they told me to ring at 9 this morning. Im a little worried if they send him to over night vet again if its the same vet as she seems to be giving him a death sentance and I know she cant do anything like that without my permission but does does make me worry about her dedication to his care. I may have to ring them soon though to follow it up as my parents are going away at 7 for the weekend and need them to drive me as its a little cold to get the bus if he's allowed home. I know it was a moment of madness with the floor lol id been thinking for months I wonder whats underneath, there is terracota tiles underneath, Actually half decent, 3 of the tiles are cracked so there is a mat over them as the old flooring is in quiet a few peices, im lucky it wasnt concrete or something bad that id need to spend lots of money on.
just had a moment of double disappointment, the new collar I got made for teddy is on the coffee tabble - made me sad because im not sure when ill see him and the really disappointed because its mint amf purple poka dot in colour and that reminded me id drunk my last pepermint tea, its supposed to be calming, I had 40 tea bags I cant of drunk them all can I ?

If he's seeming brighter, it sounds like he's making a recovery! :) The night vet has no right to make decisions on your behalf. When one of my cats fell seriously ill, I had to rush her to the emergency vet in the middle of the night - this also meant she had to see a different vet, and this vet was AWFUL. She was just so cold and pessimistic and made it sound like the worst was going to happen. In times like this, you need to be your cat's voice and persevere. Don't give up on little Teddy - wait for a diagnosis. I'm sure he can only get better :) ps. You should try drinking chamomile tea, it helps a great deal with nerves! Sending more positive vibes and waiting for good news <3 <3

Omg, he really was tiny! How cute!

Did you speak to your vet yet? It would be great if they felt Teddy could come home with you this weekend - would you have someone available over the weekend who could drive you to the night vet if necessary? I totally understand your misgivings about leaving him in the care of someone who doesn't seem invested in his recovery. It sounds to me like Teddy himself is pretty set on getting better, and I'd want to see everyone playing on his team. I imagine being a night vet would be a disheartening job - if the animals you were seeing were well enough to wait even 12 hours, well, you wouldn't be seeing them. I imagine it would be hard not to become a little cynical about your patients.

i agree with kagami, not only about being Teddy's defender and voice, but also about chamomile tea. It really is soothing. And if nothing else, a clean house and a terra cotta tiled kitchen sound completely lovely, so enjoy them :D

Hi after phoning loads i eventually just made an appointment and was still waiting over an hour an hour as they seem to have booked appointments that werent even availible. The vet agreed teddy could come home for the night to see how he copes, he seems so much brighter then yesterday even. Hes sat on my knee eating chicken like hes never been fed. I really wanted to see for myself how hes doing and if in the long run he didnt make it id hate to think he was lonely ... Fingers crossed he looks good though !!
The out of hours vets must commonly be quite rude, you made me want camamile tea (i acctually got some now. Well camomile and honey).

Aww, Teddy looks so sweet there with his blankets ^_^ So glad he's home with you. Just take good care of him; from the sound of things, he's getting better. :)

Yeah the camomile tea is definitely soothing, Ive so many types if tea in the house at the moment is madness. have an appointment at vets in 2 hours, she what they say. Hes having another blood test this one is for toxoplasmosis as that can sometimes cause neurological problems to . Does anyone know if in rare cases cat flu can make them weak/ walk funny ? Just as a little kitten he came to me with cat flu, he was hospitalised then and made a full recovery but know they can have flareups of cat flu (not sure what strain) but hes been slightly off colour since his castastration last friday, though he was worried about fireworks as well that seem to constantly go off at this time of year. Trying to think of anything tjat could of affected like this in the hopes its not fip, probably grasping at straws so to speak :-/ he hasnt been sneezing but he didnt when he had it before, his nose has had a little redish discharge. Here he is this morning, sorry I look awful but not much sleep (my excuse anyway)

It would seem all us cat owners make the mistake of trying to self-diagnose our cats using google, and in the process scare ourselves half to death :S I don't know much about FIP, but I believe it has something to do with fluid in the abdominal cavities/lungs? It doesn't sound like that's what we have here to me. I do, however, have some experience with cat flu and I know that it can get REALLY bad to the point of where a cat will refuse to eat. One of my cats had to be hand fed for a while when she came down with cat flu really bad. She wasn't walking oddly, though.

I think the blood tests are a good idea, they may just give you some closure as to what's going on, but whatever happens, don't give up

I thought I had posted here today, but I guess not!

I'm glad he seemed to be doing a little better overnight - how is he doing now? I feel like appetite is such a strong indicator of how a cat's getting on, and hearing that he's eating so well is such a good sign. He looks so - I don't know, unstressed to be in his own home. He's got to be happy to be back with you.

I'm not sure if a feline herpes flareup (this is what you mean, right?) can cause wobbliness, but it absolutely would make sense that both his neuter and all the Guy Fawkes celebrations could cause a herpes flareup. I see why your vet is considering FIP and toxoplasmosis - they both kind of fit, though the high white blood cell count isn't quite right for toxoplasmosis (it does spike up as they recover, though, I read somewhere?), and the good appetite isn't right for FIP.

Keep us updated on how both of you are doing if you get the chance.

What a lovely kitty he is.  I am so happy he is doing a little playing.  That is positive.  I think most of us and seen cats at some point come through insurmountable odds.  They are phenomenal creatures and live life on their own terms.   Stay positive though as he will pick that energy up.  Flowerdew really hit the nail on the head.  I think we are all bad for consulting the computer for answers to our concerns and it is so hard to avoid doing that.  Listen to the vet you have the faith in.  This site is great because so many of us have been through a lot of these issues and we can pass on our experiences but you must listen to your vet.  I agree that SOME afterhours emerge vets can be less congenial than the vets working their normal schedules.  If they don't want to do the afterhours work, then they should opt out of it.  Keep up the faith and just keep loving and fighting for your beautiful kitten.

Hi I tried to put an update on here yesterday and my Internet wasn't working, went to my mums to scan paperwork for insurance today and tried and then my phone died so hopefully it will work this time.
Thanks for everyones support, this site has been great, he is such a sweet loving boy, feel a little helpless at times. He has made it through the weekend, hes still really sleepy but still eating, drinking and playing a little. Definitely better on his feet, he followed me upstairs earlier had such a shock seeing him behind me. We are back at the vets tomorrow, they have got the fip blood tests back so find out tomorrow results. He does seem a little walm though, doesnt seem to high but any ideas to keep it down through the night ?

I am really glad to hear he's moving about more! I was worried about him the past couple of days, but it sounds like he's working hard at getting better.

I hope you get some useful information tomorrow. My understanding is that a positive coronavirus test doesn't necessarily equal FIP, and that most cats will test positive for coronavirus. So don't be too downhearted if that's what you hear.

I don't have any good advice on keeping temperatures down other than making sure he gets plenty of fluid. As long as a fever doesn't get too high, it's actually a good thing. It should be helping him fight whatever is making him sick. Just make sure he keeps eating, drinking, and getting plenty of rest.

Good luck!

I wonder if it's possible he could have a severe case of Calicivirus. I was just reading an article in a newsletter I get from Cornell university talking about more severe strains of Calici that have been showing up. Some of the symptoms fit, maybe mention this to your vet, there is a test for it. Hope his appt goes well today.
