We are having a garage sale, and I was thinking of selling my cats' old litter box. It is a perfectly fine litter box, but it was big, clunky, and an awful navy blue color that really stood out in the room. I traded it for a new cream and turquoise one that better matches my decor, and the cats use the new one just fine. Is it gross to sell it? Do you think a shelter might take it? It might be too big to fit inside of a cage though.

I would throw the old litter box away. Plastic absorbs urine odors and it cleaning doesn't always remove the residue. You wouldn't want to give the box away and those new cats to stat acting out because they smell the lingering residue in the box and think there's a strange new cat in the house.

No. No matter much you clean it, there will be residue from your cats. It's simply not fair to the cats of whoever buys it. That could create a very nasty situation. Just toss it.
