My cat throws up when she eats wet food...

When I adopted Rachael, I was told that she did not like wet food. I did try several different brands with her, and she tried a few and even seemed to like some of the high end brands, however, she pukes after she eats it. She is not eating fast. She does well on dry food and I have been trying to research which kind would be the best for her. I am considering some of the "sensitive stomach" varieties....Any suggestions for me? Thanks!

Some cats have an adjustment period going from dry to wet. I feed all wet and neither cat vomits. She might not be able to digest some ingredient like fish or rice or beef

The question then becomes what ingredients are added to canned foods and not kibble? That would point to texture agents like carrageenan, soy, guar gum, etc. These are probably in about 80% of canned foods. If you can find one that doesn't use these agents it might solve the problem. The other option is to go to raw which doesn't use these ingredients.

Mia 828 what have you fed so far that she vomits and what dry do you feed?

Well I cant remember every canned food Ive tried, but my other cat eats wet food -  Sheba and Friskies, sometimes Science Diet are her regular, so these I have tried several times. For dry food I was using Nutro for both of them and I have tried Pro Plan and Iams. The one I am trying now is Purina One for sensitive Stomachs. Seems to have stopped her vomiting but I want her to be able to eat more nutritious food. I am thinking of trying the sensitive stomach version of either Science diet or Blue Buffalo, but have read mixed reviews on both.

It helps to look at the ingredient list on the food. Anything that lists corn meal as it's first ingredient is probably something to be avoided. Science diet ingredients are not so good from what I remember.

How much do you give her? One of my cats throws up if he eats to much wet food at one time. I can only give him an ounce otherwise he keeps eating and throws up.
