Happy Sunday everyone! Autumn is hitting full force. All the leaves here have changed colour and are making for crunchy and colourful walks.

A pretty easy question today:

What are your most and least favourite things about the current season? (For some of us, it would be autumn, and for others, it would be spring... or maybe wet vs dry
)

My favourite thing about autumn here is split between two things: the crispness of the air, and having all the leaves on the sidewalk during a damp period of day, because once those leaves get kicked up and moved, they leave silhouettes of those leaves on the sidewalk like stamps. And the sidewalk is just littered with them! Looks very artsy.

My least favourite would be the rain. It makes it so much colder! At least in winter, I assume it'll be cold no matter what weather, but fall is a toss-up. Wind and rain really make or break how effective the outerwear you chose is.

I love the colors before the leaves start falling in full force.  I also really like the weather in early fall, warm days and cool nights, no air conditioning or heat just open windows.  As the fall progresses though and it gets cooler then it's unpredictable.  I don't like the unpredictability with temps.  I think it's going to be really cool so I dress warmer and by the afternoon it's too warm for what I am wearing.

I love the fall colors, the swirling leaves....I even like raking leaves. All the autumn foods. Roast pork has a fall flair that I don't enjoy as much during the summer. A rich beef stew with cornbread on a chilly night after we've been outside working all day. Pumpkin whoopie pies with marshmallow filling, decadent pumpkin bars, pumpkin pies, anything with apples. Snuggling under the electric blanket with Rick and the cats to watch a movie, or more likely, a football game on a Saturday night. Baking bread on a Saturday morning and watching the clouds rolling by outside my kitchen window or watching the silly squirrels run by the pool carrying a mouthful of nuts; the squirrels are just hilarious sometimes. A mug of hot chocolate with homemade marshmallows and a sticky bun.

But fall is depressing because I know what comes next. And I cannot handle winter anymore. I just can't. Walking during my lunch break and dealing with the gusting winds. Going to work in the dark and coming home in the dark. Knowing that, any day now, it's going to snow. By mid-January, sometimes even earlier than that, I'm climbing the walls with cabin fever. Or sitting on the couch in tears because I just can't deal with it anymore.

I don't mind what had become a normal winter, in fact I actually liked it because I don't do well with heat and humidity that we usually get in the summer.  Last winter really got to me though.  I couldn't go out in that cold unless it was absolutely necessary, it was just too cold.  This past summer was really cool so that doesn't bode well for the upcoming winter.

The weather starts to cool off here in Florida about the end of Oct. We can count on the weather being beautiful in November. The humidity is down and no worry about a real cold snap in November. That is why I take my vacation every year in November. I will be off work from Nov.14 and return to work Dec 2.  I will be enjoying "staycation" this year yeah!!!

Favorite things: the colors, crisp air, apples and pumpkins.
Least favorite: early dusk and raking leaves. I've been doing the latter every day recently, and there's no end in sight!
