My cat Zelda has been having brown / black stuff around her vagina for a little while now. When she turns her tail up and faces her backside at me it has an odd odor. She's very affectionate with me but has major issues doing things like going to the vet. If it's somethig I can take care of Id rather not stress her out but if I need to bring her I will. She's been scootching around a lot and tries to lick the area but can't get to it because she's too fat (something we're working on - I had to give her some crappy food once because my friend couldn't get the good stuff when I left town and when I got back she wouldn't eat anything else - which I finally fixed).

Here are some pictures. They're a little gross so I included a spoiler incase someone is at work or something.

I'm on my phone and I don't see an edit option but I wanted to mention I've tried giving her a bath but the problem just came back.

Sounds like a possible issue with the anal glands. Have the vet check the glands for any signs of impaction or other issue and empty out the glands. Anal gland secretion smells horrible

Some cats may need their glands emptied regularly to prevent staining around the butt and leakage onto your furniture, clothes, etc. You can do this at home instead of paying the vet or a groomer to do it. Have the vet show you how to do it first.
