The word "experts" is all relative, isn't it? I think "healthiest" is also relative depending on your cat. :D For my cat at this current time Royal Canin Limited Ingredient diet works best. What someone else may think is the healthiest food would reduce my cat to a scabbed out itching mess. :dk:

It really does depend on the cat.  My kitties do well with Hounds and Gatos but it does have a lot of thickeners in it which some kitties are sensitive to.  Many kitties don't care for it and I think part of the issue is it's texture which would change if they cut back on the thickeners.  Other than thickeners it is just meat, liver and necessary supplements.  They have some novel proteins and use duck liver which helps with kitties who have allergies.

Natures Variety is good, far fewer thickeners and some novel proteins.  My kitties don't care for it so it really isn't good for them because they won't eat it.

Wild Calling is good but also has a different texture which many kitties don't like.  They are a simple food, high meat content and novel proteins.  They are canned by the same facility as Evangers which many people shy away from because of issues in the past with their processing facility.

I thought I would order a case but not sure now I will have to do more research, I think you are stuck with clay or guar gum or carageenan or agar agar it's always something. I have one cat that loves tiki and weruva and one that needs coaxing.

There is simply no perfect food.  I have seen articles that say that agar agar is carrageenan by another name and other articles that say it isn't.   I am really not at all afraid of the montmorillonite clay, or any of the other edible healing clays, that are used in Nature's variety.
