Hey guys
We adopted these 2 kitties 2 months ago and we're completely blessed to have them in our lives.
Slight back story - my partner and I have moved residences a few times in the last few years (out of our control) so we weren't 100% sure we should bring cats into our lives because we wanted to be settled. We decided we want to adopt a cat or 2 a few months before we got them, so we started looking in shelters and planning our house for their arrival. We were still slightly hesitant so we decided to wait a bit longer.
One day I was sleeping and my partner woke me up in a flurry telling me he'd seen 2 kits up for adoption on gumtree. He instantly felt a connection with the pictures so we contacted the ad poster and asked if they were still available.
When we found out they were, we decided instantly to go get them!
Their owners brought them out in a box... They were really gaunt and skinny, smelling strongly of pee. The owner said the mum had a lot of kittens and they couldn't really afford to keep them. We asked questions about where they'd come from and any info about them, but the owners were very apprehensive and didn't want to tell us much. We fell in love instantly and took them.
They were very quiet on the way home, not screaming or terrified, they kind of fell asleep and just waited...
Once they were home we gave them a long bath (which they hated, but it needed to be done. They had flea bites that were bleeding pretty bad...) and once we'd dried them and put them down in the room we'd allocated to them, they ran straight under the couch and didn't come out. It was like this for 2 days while we spent hours coercing them, playing with them and giving them all our love. They really didn't come out of their hiding spots much other than to eat and spend short amounts of time playing.
It was almost 3 days later when they both (at the same time!) came out of their shells and all of a sudden started purring sooooo much, wanting all of our attention and basically transforming instnatly before our very eyes.
Since that day they've been our babies and they're spoilt wrotten. They are the most beautiful cats we could ever hope for and our lives are extremely enriched, being able to give them the home they deserve.
Here are a few pictures of their adventures with us so far.
When we first picked them up, on their way home.
Starting to get comfortable (but not leaving the bed yet)
Slowly starting to get comfortable!
This was where they were most of the first 2 days
Snowpea chilling after he started feeling comfortable... <3
In their cat tree!
Snickers >3
They go a bit funny sometimes haha!
Snowpea selfie!
Brooding beauty <3
Enough said!
Their first adventure on the balcony (supervised!)
Hope you enjoy them as much as we do!
I've made a few cute youtube videos of them but i'll post them once I've participated here a bit more
Take care!
