I know it is only early November, but I am looking forward to Christmas and already thinking about holiday movies. What are some of your favorites?

For some reason, I never seem to get tired of A Christmas Story. I have loved it since I was a kid and try to watch at least part of the marathon every year. I finally bought the DVD! Prancer is a close runner up, but nothing beats A Christmas Story.

The move Elf is pretty funny and Bad Santa, even though it is a little raunchy.

I used to love Home Alone, but watching it now just makes me sad, thinking about what a mess Macaulay Culkin has become.

On a lighter note, the first two Santa Clause movies are pretty good.

There is a movie I have always liked and thought was cute but may not be very well known--All I Want For Christmas.

That is all I can think of for now. Anybody else?

The classics I used to watch every single year were A Charlie Brown Christmas, Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, and Frosty the Snowman (the latter 2, of course the old claymation ones). Not a movie, but I always watch the episode Merry Christmas, Mr. Bean.

I tried to watch that video. I got a message that said, "The uploader has not made this video available in your country."

my favorite holiday movie is white christmas. i love the story, the music, and the comedy parts of it. i sing along at the end of the movie, when they're all singing the song white christmas.

and, though they aren't holiday movies, i love when there's a christmas day john wayne movie marathon -- one year this was called "christmas with the duke".

Maybe that's why you had to ask - his official channel won't even let you watch! What about this one?

Nope, that one says "This video is not available in your country." I did find the video a few minutes ago when I looked it up on YouTube on my phone though. Maybe there is a problem with uploading the video to this site for some reason? I have already watched part of it. It seems funny, but weird.

Babes in toyland. All those years when I was a kid in b&w and now the colorized version which I have to admit allows me to notice things I never was able to before.

I finally finished watching the full Mr. Bean Christmas episode. That poor turkey was violated.

I love those!! I found a set of those claymation ones on DVD and my DD has been addicted to them the last two Christmases!

I'll have to look up the Mr been one for DH. He's a fan.

White Christmas is my favorite movie of all time! I watch it year round and can probably recite it.
I always tell DH that i don't consider it a Christmas movie; it just happens to be set around Christmas.

My other favorites are The Polar Express, the first two Santa Clause movies, The Night They Saved Christmas, Mickeys Christmas Carol, the Muppet Christmas Carol, A Charlie Brown Christmas... I think that's it.

I'm beginning to take after my mother in that i enjoy most Christmas movies (she's already watching them) including those hallmark moves.  The only ones I can't stand are (no one hate on me) A Christmas Story, Its a Wonderful Life and Miracle on 34th Street (any version).  I did love the Home Alone movies as a kid; but I guess I've outgrown that sort of humor or something?  They just don't appeal to me.
I suppose it's the same explanation for A Christmas Story; it just doesn't appeal to my sense of humor (though I've never liked that one).

i guess white christmas isn't really a christmas movie, but it's shown on tv pretty much every year during the christmas season.

@MoochNNoodles -- oh, yeah! i'd watch white christmas whenever it was played, any time of the year. another favorite of mine is easter parade, with fred astaire and judy garland. i love the old movies, especially musicals.
Me too!  When my cousin and I were kids and even teenagers we'd stay up late with our Grandmother and watch the old movies that were on TV or a few she had on video.  Gone with the Wind was her favorite and I love it too!  But musicals are almost always favorites!  The only one I don't like is 7 Brides for 7 Brothers.  It just never appealed to me.  But now we are getting off topic.

Thanks to this thread I started looking at some of the movies available on Amazon and I think that has lead to my mother's Christmas present!
