JC doesn't qualify as a "lap cat", although he is very affectionate. He loves to play "fur collar" (and as a result I have spinal problems - 13.5 lbs. of cat hanging around your neck isn't good for your back!), cleans our ears every day, and makes a habit out of "bumping" foreheads. Lately he has added a new twist to being affectionate. I have very thick, extremely curly hair, which I've worn very short for decades just to keep it under control. A couple of months ago I decided I needed a change, and let my hair grow, then got it thinned out a bit. I now have ringlets to just above my shoulders (I'm in my mid-forties, so shoulder-length is the absolute maximum, IMO). Jamie now spends about an hour every morning wrapped around my shoulders, running his claws through my hair, while I get dressed, put my make-up on, clean his litterbox, feed him, change the water in his bowls, eat breakfast and read the headlines. He spends roughly another hour every day, in short doses, "combing" my hair with his claws. Last night he "combed" me for 2 - 3 hours, so I didn't get much sleep. I figure I'm "mommy cat", and running his claws through my hair reassures him, but I wonder if other cats do the same thing? Do any of you have cats with hair or curl fixations?

My Levi plays, combs or tries to lick my hair at least once every day. I say tries to lick because I've got hair slightly past my sholders & I don't want to see what kind of hair ball that would create. I let him play with it as long as he's not pulling or being too ruff & the other night for the first time he was running his claws through my hair.

Midnight does this almost every night to my hair, it's sweet but a pain trying to get the snarls out of my hair in the morning!

Pearl will do that if I am not feeling well. She always knows, and will come lay on my pillow and groom my head. She isn't really that sociable any other time.
