Our male cat not only acts like a dog but spends more time with our two dogs than he does with the other two cats.  Our house is divided by a series of gates to keep the cats safe.  He is the only one who walks between both areas.  In fact he sleeps in our room with the dogs.  Whenever/wherever the two dogs come together he is soon right there too. Grooming the dogs and he wants to be groomed.  We have a treat routine for the dogs in the morning before we leave for work and he has started to insert himself in that too.  What makes this cat so adaptable to living with the dogs when his sister is totally afraid of them?

Maybe it's just a question of personality, or he doesn't view dogs as competitors. Like his predecessor, our Mogli is horrible with other cats, male or female, but he likes dogs.

All cats have different personalities, some cats are more sociable than others so they're more likely to enjoy company and noise. My cat is very sociable too, he likes to run and follow us around the house just like a dog does. Some cats are shy and don't g enjoy the noise dogs cause when barking or moving around!

you sure have a special cat!

A cat I had years ago (babes) basically was a dog. We rescued her when she was about 4 weeks old. At the time I had two other cats who totally rejected her, from snubbing to out right attacking. We also had 2 laid back dogs who she bonded very closely to. So closely that she never learned proper cat behavior and instead learned dog behavior: no litter box for this kitty, she would paw at the door and whine just like the dogs, no retracting of the claws, had to be fully declawed for her own safety, never heard her actually meow, she had a strange sort of bark.

When my mother pasted away and she had to move into my new apartment it was a terror. Our dogs had passed away by then and none of my animals ever knew what a leash was when I was growing up, so she had to learn to wear a collar and leash at age 9 so she didn't potty on my rugs.

She was also a guard kitty, "protecting" my son as I have only seen dogs do and alerting us to anyone near our house.

Babes was this way all 12 years of her strange cat dog life. She would also take on the huge toms in our neighbor hood and win, at her biggest she was about the size of a normal 6month old dsh.
