This is my cats first litter of kittens, she's two years old and a very small cat. Her belly is huge! She started showing approximately 3-4 weeks ago. Her nipples are rosey pink but not yet leaking colostrum. She still has an appetite but not a huge one like she did before becoming pregnant. I can not only feel but see the kittens moving inside her belly when I sit a metre away from her. Her belly is quite firm but she hasn't lost any fur near her nipples yet. She's been VERY tired and sleeping a lot the last few days, and I have caught her trying to nest (of course not in a any of the five places I've set up for her) but when she looks for a place to give birth she meows and wants me to be around her whilst she's doing it. I don't want to take her to the vet and pay $120 to get a due date when she might have complications. And for everyone negative she will be getting spayed once the kittens are weaned, she was bred purposefully. Thanks in advance!

Hello fellow kitty lover, from all you have described, it sounds like your baby is ready to give birth within a day...but if I were you I would rest assured this mommy can handle this feat. Sounds like she is making all the right preparations, and she may be meowing at you to show her where to go that will be quiet and private. Cats are brilliant creatures...I think if you put a couple towels somewhere specific and gently talk to her, she will know that's the spot and most likely do all the work herself. My cat had her kittens under my bed because my room was the least disturbed, and I didn't even realize she gave birth until one morning, she came from under my bed holding a kitten in her mouth and then set it at my feet..like "look what I have!!" So cute, all will be ok. Good luck :-)
