My cat had her second litter almost 6 weeks ago. 4 very healthy kittens but the one born first, the smallest as well, started to become the quieter one. At first I thought nothing of it but today it was by itself I went over to check and it was very cold. I've been keeping it warm but it won't touch food, water or kitten milk, the other is showing no interest. What can I do it's completely limp, please help

Please call a vet. It sounds like he's quite sick, a kitten should never seem limp, if it does, something is wrong.

Don't be too worried yet, though. he might have eaten something wrong or it might be something else that makes it feel sick. My 8 week old kitten had some bowel problems (it couldn't poop suddenly) and got really sick of it too. They gave her some meds and now she's all okay again. So please take her to a vet to get properly looked at asap, don't wait too long.

It says `the other is showing no interest`  - I assume that should read `mother`??

That would be a bad sign I think.   Nature seems cruel to us but the Mum knows intuitively that the kitten probably will not make it.

Without knowing precisely what is wrong it is difficult to know what to do.   Really the only option I think is to see a vet.

Does its belly seem bloated or swollen?

As foregoing said, mom not caring is a bad sign.  But it is worth to fight on if you can, sometimes they DO survive and grow up into healthy, adult cats!

OK,   1.   keep her warm.   Warm up actively, massage up.

Exactly how old is she?  (right, I saw, 6 weeks)   What kitten food, what sort of kitten milk you do have??

Re going to the vet.  Its the standard advice, and usually its correct.   But quite a few vets dont have real clue what to do with weak small kittens.   But if your vet is knowleable in this area, sure - you will get good advices at least, and hopefully suitable kitten replacement milk, and gears too....

OOPS,  I see now the kittens are 6 weeks - OK, at that age most decent vets should have a clue.   So yes, contact your vet if you do have any decent vet nearby - even if he isnt specialist on small newborn weak kittens.

In a way this is more serious.  Weak kittens do occur, but if a half grown kitten collaps suddenly in this way, its almost always serious.

Still, most of the standard advices for infants Im giving, are still suitable.

2.  Next step will be to perk up some energy, by smearing  glucose sugar on her gum.   If you nor your neigbours have glucose sugar home, try with white caro syrup or honey...

This works also even if she isnt warmed up yet properly.

3.  The kittens is probably dehydrated too.  So some water - pedialyte is best, but common water OK.  You can use a dropper if you dont have a suitable syringe (without needle).

Tummy down, head up, in the corner of the mouth, slowly.

3-4.   Suitable  kmr or goat milk...

Weak kittens have often difficult with bottle.  Syringe is best, but if you dont have it at hand, a dropper will do.

I understand the kittens isnt totally newborn.  Ah, I see, she is 6 weeks!   Do you know if she peed / pooped recently as she should?  Not emptying for too long may by itself give such symptoms...

OK, this will be enough for now,  Im waiting on reports and questions, so I and the others will give more responses.

*vibes!*

Ok then. StefanZ's advice is spot on. Do the best you can do. We will be praying for him to pull through.
