My 1.3 y.o. cat has had loose stools for about 6-7 weeks, been on prescription food purina EN wet for about 4 weeks, fortiflora for 4 weeks and metronidazole for 2 weeks.  He still has watery stool followed by some formed. He's been his normal self through all this but last night he threw up bile and this evening just threw up his dinner from 3 hours ago.  Vomiting has not been a problem in the past.    Is this an indication he is getting sicker?  I figured it was just IBD of some sort and the vet said it could take months to get his intestinal floral back in order.    I was thinking of having him tested for the T. Foetus, but I see you can't do that after they've been on anti-biotics.  Any advice or anecdotal evidence about what worked to cure your cat much appreciated.  Thanks!

Addition:  I just went to feed him and he wouldn't eat.  Came in the kitchen with my other two cats and laid down prone on the floor and then didn't get up when I put the plates down.  I tried to get him to eat and he had no interest.  Walked out of kitchen and laid down. I used a syringe to get some water down him and no he is laying on my chest, which is  is pretty unusual for him.

I have no clue whats going on with your cat but I can share what I'm going through with ours right now and how frustrating it has been and at the cost of thousands of $$ so far.

My cat is 15 year old siamese and few months ago we noticed lots of barf as well as him being lethargic and eating a bit less some days.  Didn't pay much attention for a couple weeks, except for the excess cleanup until one day he didn't end up getting up for food one night.  I was worried right away at that point because he balled up in the clothes basket and just layed there instead of visiting.  I looked over him that night but was scared he was dead.  I didn't see obvious distress it was like he was in a coma or something.

Initially I searched forums to see if he just had an upset stomach, and switched to fancy feast classics.  Previous vets always had him on dry iams, I didn't know any better.

I knew after that night we had to take him to a vet.  One that I believe delayed treatment and really strung as along and wasted money.  They simply took blood and said he had some high liver numbers, gave him denamarin and antibiotics.  He started getting diahrea practically every day and would have multiple barfing fits every 3-4 days for over a month after that first vet visit.  They mentioned they could treat symptoms and during a follow up visit checked his blood again and said some values got better to keep him on denamarin.  I reiterated all this diahrea was crazy and we needed to get to the bottom of things even though I am no doctor.

So I had to find another vet and after asking on this forum went to a skilled vet that deals with cats and a follow up appt. with oncologist.  This is who we are working with now.

My cat had mast cell tumor in the spleen and it was taken out last week, as well as tumor off to the side of liver.  Liver was discolored on some parts.  guts didn't show tumors but some slight hardning.

So we are trying to treat it similar to ibd now because since the surgery he has kept the same schedule of barfing.  Although he has had solid poop except a tad bit of milkshake at the end of one movement.  Thats a definate difference.

Also nothing has stank like death since surgery.

My cat had maintained his weight in the 2 months of torture before surgery.  He also would eat and drink, except on barfing days he would get lethargic and eat a fraction of what was normal and withdraw from human contact.

My guy is on pepcid ac, benadryl and now a steroid for the last 2 days.

It seems there is so many cross over symptoms for differing illness.

Regardless of what happens soon I want to try a raw diet, but am clinging to the steroids helping settle things down.

I just know my cat, but it took me actually seeing him that bad night and catching how he was barfing a few times, I just knew something wasn't right.  He was projectile vomiting and it stank and it would happen atleast an hour after previous feeding sometimes many hours.

Thanks so much for sharing.  I think that all the anecdotal evidence that people offer on the forums really helps others in trying to figure out what's wrong.  I know exactly what you are talking about when you say solid with a tad of milkshake.  It's a whole new world of phrases when it comes to describing cat poop.  I'm sorry your kitty isn't feeling well.  My previous cat was part siamese and we talked all the time - I miss her and I can't believe back then I let my cat go outside (she was a hit by a car when she was 8 years old.)  With my three now I'm super cautious and would never consider letting them out.

Anyway, I hope your Siamese gets some relief from his symptoms.  My kitty has been eating this morning, and used the litter box last night, so I know he isn't blocked or constipated.  So for once maybe I can avoid the emergency clinic.

I bought some freeze dried raw food (Stella and Chewy's) from Chewy.com.  Haven't tried it yet as I was hoping the meds would clear up his diarrhea.  Plus I don't want to make things worse by changing his food again on top of the meds.  When we go in next week I will probably have him tested for Bartonella as well.
