My cat had one kitten and im 99% sure its been orphaned.
I brought it inside to warm up cause its cold outside, its sleeping right now but it occasionally meows, I dont have any formula and I cant get any today, and I dont have a bottle for it to feed from either, anything helps right now, the mother has been gone for well over 7 hours

Healthy kitten may manage surprising long without mom.  She delivered outside, are you sure she will come inside if she returns?

Can you get goat milk by any chance?  Goat milk is as good as formula     -   continuing hold on

If the shops are closed, you can ask neigbouts etc if they do have - in emergencies, the sociale behavior norm is people do help if they are asked.  Even people whom you normally dont talk with, even these on non speaking therms.

continue

Good you hold the kitten warm, even actively warming up.  Too cold is a much bigger enemy than too warm.

Do you have a dropper?   Say from a medicine bottle.  Wash it out and you can use it.  Or such a dosage syringe for medicines.  Or best, a real small syringe, without needle...

Again, if you dont have - ask neigbours....

There is perhaps some neigbour who IS experienced with helping animals??   Or a mom of several children - such moms are used to organize, to find solutions even when in stress...

What do you mean when you say you're 99% the kitten has been orphaned? Do you mean that you think its mother has rejected it?

If its mother comes inside, can you not try to make a cosy area for her where she can nurse the kitten herself?

I see.  I understand she prob rejected it.  Perhaps a young mom where the instinct hasnt kicked in...

You can buy some time by giving it a little water.  Preferably with some glucose sugar in.

If you nor your neigbours dont have glucose sugar, white caro syrup or even honey can be used.    Just a little...    Continue

We dont recommend cow milk for kittens   continue

Evaporated cow milk is less unsuitable.

BUT

if desperate enough, you can probably try with cow milk too.  I have heard of examples where the kittens was OK.

Use a full fat version.   and make sure its body temp.

Oh, I see... Still waiting to hear Stefan's response, but if the mother has actually rejected the baby, you'll need a syringe and some goats milk. Kitten formula like KMR would be ideal, but goat's milk is the next best thing. The longer the kitten goes without feeding, the weaker it will get; if its mom comes back soon, try to set up a quiet dark area where she can feed the baby. She may not be letting the baby feed because she doesn't feel safe/comfortable. In any case, don't panic; just make sure the baby stays warm while it's mother is away.

This crying is for getting the mom.  It may wake up her maternal instincs, but if you had abandoned the hope of her returning, better you take charge.  At least, the kitten will be warm.

Perhaps best you let the kitten scream and hopefully attract its mom   (how is it with predators at your place??)

and in that time, you run to your neigbours asking about these things I told you about.

or phone around.

Do you have a vet? phone and ask - most vets DONT want to bother taking care of orphaned kittens, so its not why you phone. But he may perhaps give some advices.  Perhaps know somebody who is willing to help.

*wibes!*

Yeah, when you are feeding it, you must stimulate it too.  But it is next step, and we will tell you how.  There are descriptions too, both at our Forum, and other forums too.

Predators are a danger for such a kitten, of course.  Dogs and quite a few birds, not to mention foxes, and others meat eaters.  So safest you take it inside, and hope mom will come in, if such is the luck...

Leaving the kitten outside may work, but it is sheer desperation.

Ask the neigbours to hold on their dogs.   (although a friendly dog may adopt such a kitten, it isnt unhear of)

I would bring the kitten inside, and if their mother comes inside, keep her inside, too. Stefan is right - if the mother hears the kitten crying for it, it may awaken the mother's maternal instincts. Keep the kitten warm in the meantime!

1. The kitten will freeze to death outside, Keep him warm now and pet it with one finger so it knows some "being" is there.

2. The kitten will die if it does not get any food and stimulation from mom or you SOON. I used warmed cows milk in a pinch when I was a child and my kitten grew up fine. But you must get proper formula ASAP and a bottle.

3.The kitten will need help eliminating or die-that is pooing and peeing from mom or you.-you do it by taking a moist tissue and rubbing softly over the genitals and rectum until the baby pees or poops.

4. You can make it so mom can hear the baby and watch for her to see if she comes back. Let em both in.  A real cat Mom is always better than people.

5.If you are not up to the task. I recommend you call a shelter or reach out to neighbors that can go to the store if mom does not come back. Taking care of a kitten is a serious job and you have to want to do it.

You may not have much time.

OK, be sure the kitten is warmed up thoruoughly before you begin to feed it  - it cant process the food properly when too cold.  You can even massage it up a little, but take it very easy!

IF the kitten is too weak or seems lethargic, smear a little glucose sugar, white caro syrup or honey on its gum.  This works even if the kitten is too cold to eat properly.

The glucose goes directly from the skin in there into blood.

IF the kitten doenst manage the bottle as yet, it is easier with a dropper.  (a syringe is better than dropper, but everyone has a dropper at home, but few a syringe).

The position is: tummy down, head up!  Like it would suckle from mom.  NOT like human babies tummy up!

Take it slowly if so need, so it manages to swallow in time. Dont force in.     IF you use the dropper, in the corner of the mouth, and slowly inside -  NOT into the throat...  If it swallows actively you can make a little faster, but if it doesnt swallow much, take it slow and easy!

Burp it afterwards too, like you would do with a human baby.  Not always necessary but wise precaution.

Good luck!
