Hello I am new to the cat site! I am the proud mother of a reformed barn cat. I adopted Molly when my cousin brought her to me from the farm. She is very timid , but has made so much progress in the two months I've had her. She was being bullied out of her food by the other cats. Now that she is the only cat she has picked up a little weight. Does any one know possibly what kind of cat she is? thanksmolly's mom

Its she in your tiny ikon-pic?   Its not clearly visible, and a couple more of good photos are welcome.

But my guess from what I see is, she is shorthaired domestic, and the pattern?  My guess is blue  torbie, ie blue tortoiseshell and tabby..

Seems to be a beauty.

How nice you found your furry friend this way.   You hint she is / was practically semiferal.  Is still shy?   It will be better with time.  Whatever outcome, she will be friendly with you.  No doubt.  But a cat shy to strangers is no problem.  This way you know the love she gives you, is not because its thursday, or because she is friendly to practically everyone - but its because she does love you.

Good luck!

Stefan'z, Molly kind of has a black gray heathered sweatshirt look.she also has some gold flecks going on. She is becoming less shy with me, she has me trained to move slower around her. She is nervous of jerky movements.

I think my first "diagnosis" is more or less correct.  Perhaps change the tortoise color to creme and blue + tabby.

Creme is diluted red, blue is diluted black.   She has surely also some white somewhere, it may be a spot, it may be even just several hairs.

Not all cats are knee cats.  Some do prefer to rest somewhere near, and thus, held you company this way.  I think Molly does exactly this, already.  Holds you a friendly company.

A tip.  If you want to cuddle and pet her, do it when she is comfortably laying on a sofa, or a chair.  NOT when she stands on the floor.

Good luck!
