This pregnant stray showed up at my mom's house the other night. She said she's seen her roaming out in the fields behind the house before, but the other day she got up on her porch and refused to leave. She brought her in and set her up in the spare bedroom. She says she's drinking excessively, but otherwise seems healthy and friendly. To those who know about these things, how far along to you think she is? They said they can easily feel the kittens moving so I'm guessing she's pretty close. I've never dealt with a pregnant queen, just abandoned kittens, is there any advice anyone can share?

Man, she's GOT to be close! Being that big I would guess this isn't her first litter either. I hope the experts can tell you how close she is, my guess would be within the next week. Bless you for helping this poor little girl, I had two show up at my place, now I have 8 (3 kittens a piece) The last time I saw a queen the size of yours she had 7.   The only advise I have is to feed her good, maybe with kitten food for added nutrition. Good luck and keep us posted!

You were right, she was very close. Two little calico girls so far, one looks just like Mama. Guess she wanted to come in to have a safe place to deliver.

Four babies so far!!! Not sure if there will be anymore or not. One calico, one calico or tortie, 2 black and whites. Sooo cute, I can't wait to see them in person! She was inside less than 48 hrs before they were born. Smart kitty.

Black and white 1

Latest update I've heard, everyone's doing fine and sleeping. The Mama cat is going to be spayed as soon as the kittens are weaned and will probably stay with my mom. Her 16 year old white female is not doing well and it seems there's always another rescue to fill the gap. The kittens will be fixed when they're old enough and adopted out to loving families. I wish I could take one, but there's no room at the inn. I'll enjoy playing with them until then though. My youngest rescue will be two in March and I miss the tiny kitten days. I don't miss the late night feedings though
, I'm glad there's a good mama to take care of these little ones.

Got to see the precious babies today. So cute!! The Mama is really great and lets you handle her babies. One of the black and whites turned out to be tabby and white and the tortie is actually tabby and white with orange spots and orange stripes on her face. I've never sexed kittens this young but I think there are 3 girls and a boy.

The babies are a week old now and growing like crazy. The Mama is passing worms, since the vet told my mom that she couldn't worm her while pregnant, when would it be safe to worm her now that the babies are getting older?
