Hi all, my beautiful kitty has been diagnosed with pancreatitis and inflammation in his stomach and intestines but thankfully not liver so no triaditis. I am seeing a holistic vet but he does not do raw oddly enough. He is on herbs and a novel canned rabbit diet but it has not helped. I want to do raw but cannot afford to buy the grinder and stuff nor do I have the time or space to cook and prepare raw food and was wondering if anyone was in the Los Angeles area and would sell me some of their raw food they make as I think it would solve my kittys problems.

Thanks in advance.

Have you thought about ordering food over the internet? MypetCarnivore ships from the mid-west; Hare Today from the east coast. There is usually a minimum order (HT = 10 pounds of food) and of course shipping charge.
You might try commercial raw products, such as Primal, Rad Cat, Bravo. There are lots of stores (probably independent--but big box stores are now also offering raw) in your area that sell commercial raw.

Hi- Since you are in Ca. ( so am I) I assume you have Pet Food Express stores in your area. You can get balanced, complete raw meals there. They sell primal and Rad Cat ( my cats love both) I usually by the Primal Grinds and add supplements but I also buy Primal Pronto and the patties. Those are complete , balanced meals. I think they also sell Feline's Pride but have never tried it. In the big freezer chest they sell various parts of chicken etc. At Pet Food Express they always have a buy 3 get 1 free deal so you really can afford raw. Good luck to you and I will keep a good thought for your kitty. I lost my Ziggy to Triaditis in 2013. I wish I had fed him better. It was losing him that sent me down the road of learning everything I could about feline nutrition and now to feeding raw.

Is commercial raw pet food an option for your cat? You can find various brands of raw foods in the pet stores now: Nature's Variety, Stella and Chewy's etc. Look for a complete diet as some raw foods are only supplements. Commerical raw comes in three types: frozen, dehydrated, and freeze dried. Dehydrated and freeze dried are easy to store in a kitchen cabinet or shelf. Frozen raw will take up space in the freezer.

Ritz mentioned two web sites for online ordering of raw food. Hare Today does not sell complete raw diets, only plain raw meat or raw meat plus bone and organs. You need to either add supplements to the raw meat to make it a complete diet or use the raw meat as part of a frankeprey diet. I use a premix instead of individual supplements so it only takes about 15 minutes to mix the raw meat with the premix and water and then portion the mixture into containers to freeze.

Have you spoken to your veterinarian about wanting to transition to a raw diet? You sound like you have one sick little guy on your hands and your veterinarian may be able to give you some guidelines as to what to look for when selecting a raw diet. Fat content and type of protein may be an issue.

What supplements do you add to balance Primal?

For raw meat and grinds, the easiest way to supplement is to use a premix such as TC Feline. You can also follow a recipe, such as the one at Catinfo.org, and use those supplements in the amounts listed. If the raw meat you are using contains liver, you can omit the liver that is called for in the recipe. Too much liver can cause Vitamin A toxicity. There's a list of raw recipes here: http://www.thecatsite.com/t/272287/raw-recipe-thread Most supplements can be bought at vitamin and health food stores.

Another source might be hunters in your area; some sell last years game. It would certainly be a novel protein. Do some due diligence; make sure the meat has been properly handled.
