What kind and how much is the commercial raw that you feed?

Now that I know my cat actually likes to eat commercial raw food - specifically Feline Pride's Gourmet Chicken - I'm curious about other raw commercial brands.  It looks like Rad Cat is carried in several stores relatively nearby but I checked an online store that cost about $11 per pound!  Does that sound about right?

What commercial raw brand are you feeding and how much does it cost?

I began with primal Grinds ( you have to add supplements) At Pet Food Express they run a year round buy 3 get one free deal. The chubs are 2 lbs each and it cost me about $35 a month ( 3 cats) I also used Primal Pronto which is a complete and balanced meal. Prices vary depending on what meat you buy. I used rabbit and that is $12.99 per 1 lbs. bag. I have fed there large bags of complete meals which contain 48 patties. Prices also vary for this depending on the meat but I have used Pheasant , Rabbit and Venison between $32 and $34.I have noticed Chicken and other items run at about $24 a bag. My cats do love Rad Cat but I can't afford that. The cats love the Primal but I have decided to begin ordering from Hare Today and am pretty excited about it.Good luck to you. I am glad for your cat that you are switching to raw.I was afraid to do it but it isn't as hard as many people think and I love knowing what the cats are eating and knowing I am doing the best I can for them. Not to mention that it does save me money compared to what I was spending on canned food.

I buy the large containers (24 ounces) of Rad Cat for $12.99, though it took me a while to realize one store where I live sells it much cheaper than the other. Now that I know that, I'm feeding the cats a little every day because they love it.

I buy large bags of freeze-dried Primal (they're complete foods) for $24.99 each, though it's probably about a dollar less per bag because of store's loyalty program. I also feed the cats a little Stella & Chewy's, which is typically about $20 or $21 for a large bag.

I completely agree with @Maureen Bradley about raw food saving money: I feed about half raw and half canned but the cats are better about finishing their raw food, meaning nothing is ever wasted. The raw food also just seems to satisfy them more.

@jiazzi, did you order Feline Pride online or buy it at a local store?

I buy Feline's Pride online. The closest reseller to me is almost 2 hours away. Interestingly enough my cat eats a lot more of the raw than the canned stuff and the canned stuff always goes to waste...but I like to have it out for him when I'm away at work all day.

I buy Hare Today and Oma's Pride frozen raw grinds at the pet store. I get the 2 pound package which varies in cost depending on the meat, anywhere from $6 to $10. The premix I use costs about $60 for a 2 pound bag that makes enough food for about 5 months.

Even working at home, I like to leave some canned food out during the day: neither of our cats seems to do well with only strictly timed feedings!

LisaHe- what store do you go to? The RadCat 24 oz here is $17.99. I just can't afford that what with having 3 cats. I have bought the small containers in the past as treats. The cats just loved it It is actually Rad Cat ( and reading this forum) that convinced me to go raw.

Maureen, it's Planet Dog in Portland, Maine. And I just checked the receipt to be sure: it really is $12.99 for 24 ounces. I don't remember exactly, but I think the other other store (Pet Life, a regional chain) here sells it for $15 or $16, which is still a bargain compared to the price where you are! Wow. I couldn't feed it very often at $17.99, either.

LisaHe- Everything is more expensive here ( San Jose CA) oh well, that's ok. Rad Cat is not for me.I did put in an order for HT yesterday and am looking forward to it arriving. After this I may go with Dr. Pierson's recipe . One of my cats has FIV and he has been sick this past week. I know it is not because of the raw BUT I think unless I am using primal poultry ( HPP) I need to do homecooked. I know there is risk in any food product and I am very careful/clean but perhaps HPP or cooked is the compromise I need to make.

It's too bad Rad Cat is so expensive where you are, Maureen! But I know what you're saying about HPP and cooked food, too. Our cats love Primal, too, which costs about the same for me as Rad Cat. They also liked Dr. Pierson's recipe a lot. I've only ever made one batch, though I have all the nutrients and ought to do it again! It's very good food. Good luck!
