Hi. My 3 year old cat has been sneezing quite a bit for the last 9~ days now and just a week ago, he has recently been neutered. Ever since yesterday, he started vomiting all night and even today, hasn't eaten anything but he drank a good amount of water. Today, however, he has not drank or ate anything at all and he seems to just stay in one spot and very unresponsive. He also didn't have the energy to urinate into his litter box and just urinated right where he was resting, while he was laying there. I tried tempting him with all sorts of foods but he didn't even try to sniff it or even look at the food. Please help!

Oh dear KitCat, urinating on himself is not a good sign.

I think he needs to see a vet right away. What time is it where you are? Are the vets open now? Is there a 24 hour emergency vet in your area?

Cats, as you know, are very fastidious creatures so if he can't even move to go to his litter box it's a sign that something is seriously wrong.

Your cat needs to see a vet asap. Have you checked for dehydration? Pick up a fold of skin on the back of the neck. If the skin goes down immediately, your cat is not dehydrated. If the skin stays up, even for a very short time, your cat is dehydrated and needs medical assistance. If your cat has not eaten for 24 hours, it runs the risk of fatty liver disease which is quite serious and takes a long time to recover from. Please call your vet, or check your area for 24-hour emergency service.

Your concern is true and honest and please take no offense in my asking: why are you posting here instead of rushing to the vet? Please take your cat to the doctor AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.

If it's only been a week since he was neutered, it could be related. When my Pushy was neutered, we had to take him back a week later because he had picked up an infection at the vet's, which made him lethargic and prolonged his recovery. At the time we didn't know that he was taking longer and was sicker than he should have been after his surgery.

Let us know how he's doing!

It sounds like he is running a high fever. Possibly from an infection from the surgery. If so he needs antibiotics. Hope he gets well soon. Good vibes....

Thank you for all of your concern.. He was a great cat and part will always be part of the family. I took him in to the ER and he did not make it. He had sepsus and the disease was just too strong. He will always live in my heart. I love him so much.I know he is in a better place now.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I understand. He is in heaven and no longer uncomfortable. I'm so sorry.
