Happy national cat day!

Anyway,on to the more important matter. I just adopted a 5 month old kitten, shes a female. Anyway, when we brought her home she used the new litter box we bought perfectly. At night we put her in a cage with another litter box,and she used that one too. The next morning though, she peed on the floor! After i cleaned up the pee i went to school, when i came back she peed on the carpet again! My mom told me that a few hours before i got home, she had used the litter box again. Why is my kitten peeing on my floor sometimes? We have unscented litter, and haven't messed with her litter at all. She even used the litter before and seemed fine with it. Is there anyway we can make her pee in her litter box all the time? Any suggestions? She knows where the litter box is,we made sure to guide her there to make sure she knew where it was. I think its very strange that shes just randomly peeing on the floor. Please help!

first time cat owner.

Sorry you are having this problem with your new kitty

How many litter boxes do you have for her ? Some cats dislike to pee and poop in the same box and require separate boxes. ;)

She is new and very small, were worried that if she sleeps in my bed i will crush her. We also have a dog in the house aswell. The cage is very big and we made it very comfortable (such as putting blankets in it and such) we also put a comfy "cat pillow" that will make a purring sound that will calm the cat. We in no way want to harm her or hurt her. Once she gets bigger she will move out of the cage. She has the one litter box in her cage, but she seems to just poop in that one too.

does the kitty have a negative association with the kennel? My kitten had that and peed in it several times.

I've never heard of anyone putting a cat in a cage, but it seems okay as you describe it.

As someone else said here, I think you are going to have to buy a second litter box. Some cats do prefer separate boxes for the different bodily functions.

I went back and re-read your OP to see if I could help further.

One major reason that cats will pee or poop outside their litter box is because they are in pain when they perform these functions. The reasoning in their mind is that if they perform outside the box it will not be painful. In other words, they associate the litter box with pain.

If this continues, I would have your vet check her out for intestinal discomfort. She may have a minor infection.
