This tribute is for my sweet beautiful old girl Jasmine.  She was my first pet after moving out from my family home.  She helped me to not feel so alone in that big empty apartment.  She loved to play, especially around corners.  She moved with me from town to town, as I moved for school, work, and eventually for marriage.  She was my constant companion for the last 18+ years, and I loved her dearly.  She was always so sweet... a bit shy with others, but she loved me.  She was friends with my family's dog, Peaches, a cockapoo.  She was good with Hazel, my hamster.  And years later became good friends with Lego, one of my bunnies.  The last few years it was Lego whom she roomed with, and every now and again she would run over and lightly swat at Lego's bum.  She was playful, loving & happy.  And she talked... always getting a laugh with her "mooooom", "hellooooo" and "now".  Her purrs always made me feel better.

These are some of my favourite photos of her... taken 7 years ago.

And a couple of her with the bunnies...

I am missing her, and feeling guilty about the past couple weeks/months.  If I had taken her in earlier maybe we would have had better success with treatment... maybe I waited too long.  Maybe I was too rash at the end?  She was and always will be my baby... I hope she knows just how much I love her.  And that she will always be in my heart, until hopefully we can see each other again.

Ooh, sweetie. That is so hard. You never know if you coulda whoulda shoulda done something else, something different to help.

You obviously loved her very well and that is so much for a kitty to be well loved.

Be happy for her and for you and the time you had together.

A sweet kitty is a wonderful gift in life. I'm sure you'll never forget her.

I'm sure she loved you deeply.

I am so sorry.  Try not to question yourself, I know you will anyway.  She lived a long life which I think means she was both well cared for and very much loved.

To Jasmine's Mum,

There is no way they your kitty did not know that u loved her SO, SO, DEAPLY!!!!! This is not even a question & please don't do this to ur self. PLEASE!!!! I lost 3 animals this past yr. my cat was 20 & I was never a cat lover, she was actually my partners & she became mine even tho I did not like her at first. She was a yr. old when we met. When I lost her I thought I lost my mind. I cried for 3 weeks straight wondering if I did the right thing???? She could not make it to the box by herself anymore & she was loosing her dignity & my little princess would not have wanted that. She was a calico with an aditude which would not quit. She own the house and we lived with her. We then lost 2 dogs. 1 was 12 yrs, hips had gone & could not walk without sever pain. Other baby had liver failure at 10 yrs old. U always question ur self & I am asking u to PLEASE DONT DO THIS TO YOURSELF!!!!!! It was the worst thing I did was like someone said, WOULD HAVE, COULD HAVE, SHOULD HAVE. U will drive ur self crazy & that's not what ur kitty would want. We just went & got a kitten and pup, the poor kitten has ringworm and it is bad. Some people say I should have put her down but I cannot do that, it can be treated, but it's going to be some time before it cleared up. She does deserve a great life like all the rest of my animals. I am thankful we have the option to not have our animals suffer, but I have never been fortunate enough to have an animal pass away at home. Love & Miss all my past pets, I would be lost without pets as I did not have children. Jasmine's Mum, ur kitty is looking down on U and will always be with u. Thanks for being such a great pet lover, I am so sorry for ur loss, my heart goes out to u & u will be I my prayers !!!!!

I'm so sorry for your loss of Jasmine, she looks like a wonderful little soul in you pictures. She had18 wonderful years full of adventure and most of all full of love and devotion from you and your other wonderful companions. I'll bet she was never bored! It hurts so bad when they leave us, and the hole in our heart takes so long to heal, sometimes it seems it will never end. Time is the only thing that helps, and one day you will think of your sweet Jasmine with a smile instead of tears. My heart breaks from all the suffering we pet owners go through, but then I think what would happen if I went first, that would be unbearable.  We just naturally outlive our loved ones and nothing will change that in the natural world. So we should celebrate the wonderful love they shared with us, and keep them alive and well in that special place in our hearts, never to be forgotten. And eventually we should make room for another special love, because that is the most wonderful tribute we could give to those who have left us behind. Their legacy should be love and devotion, not pain and sorrow. Please take care of yourself, I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers. RIP beautiful Jasmine!

Thank you all so much!  I know you can understand all the different emotions at a time like this.  I am blessed to have had 18 wonderful years with Jasmine... I adopted her at about 6 weeks of age.  Don't get me wrong, she was all kitty, and when she was young loved to look over at me as she raked her claws down my furniture lol!!  Or stand on the table top that she knew she was not allowed on.  We had so much fun together when it was just the two of us.  Her life changed when we brought our first puppy home.  She went from queen of the house, to the girl who lived under the stairs in the basement.  I don't know what it was she saw in Geddy's eyes that first day that she came home... but she knew she didn't want anything to do with her.  When we brought our second pup home, it was completely different.  She actually came upstairs to meet him.  I guess she sensed his gentleness.  It's been years since then, and just the past few months she and Geddy had actually started to tolerate each other a much better... it gave me hope for many wonderful years to come.  I actually thought she would live to her 20's.  It's amazing (in a sad way) how quickly they decline.

It's going to take time... but thankfully we did have a long time together in order to make wonderful memories.  I miss her... and all the others who have gone before her.  I hope they are playing together again.

Thanks again for understanding!
