I've had Orei for twelve years. I was twelve years old when my parents got him for me, and I just turned 24. Orei always had SOME issues of peeing outside of the litterbox since he was a young guy. He's 12 now and seems to be in good physical condition. But when I moved him with me to my boyfriend's house along with Princess (his spayed girlfriend), the peeing became out of control. He was peeing everywhere. I thought he might be stressed, but it got so bad that my boyfriend and his mother (who is in charge of the property but doesn't live there) demanded the cats leave. So I brought them back to my mom's. I am now "hot potatoing" back and forth between my mother's house and my boyfriend's every few days to care for my cats and to be where I feel is more my home. But Orei is peeing on all sorts of expensive things, he peed on some of my favorite belongings, and he even pooped around. None of the other cats are doing this. We have Princess, and my mom's new cat she got two years ago. She wants Orei gone.... I don't know what to do. He is too old, and he is bonded with me and really hates everyone else. He is a very fearful kitty, has been ever since he was a baby when I adopted him. No one else will adopt him I'm sure, and I don't want to put him through that. I care about him very much.

Is there ANYTHING I can do to make him stop destroying the house so he can stay? I've even tried locking him on one very large room and he always finds a way out...

You don't mention a vet visit... he needs to go ASAP!! Especially with older cats, stress can cause all sorts of problems. My brothers cat gets urinary tract infections and pees blood whenever my brother has to go away for work. Moving entire households- TWICE- is a lot for a 12 year old cat that has been with you forever. It could be a stress induced medical issue, or it could just be him acting out due to stress. But please have him checked out at the vet- it could be as simple as having him on antibiotics for an infection or something. He could have some major medical issues going on- one of the MOST common reasons why cats pee everywhere like this- as they are trying to get your attention- basically saying "Mom, something is wrong!"

After the vet- if it is NOT medical in nature then I would suggest trying calming collars and/or felinaway diffusers. There is also a new medication for stressed out cats- I can't remember the name, i believe it starts with a "Z". There are even some cats who have to be on human antidepressants due to having incredibly high anxiety!

You can also try "cat attract" litter- they sell it at petsmart but I do believe it is a bit cheaper on Amazon if you have a Prime account. However, if this is a medical issue, this of course will not help. This litter as some type of additive that makes cats want to use the litter box. Some people i know have had good results from it- i have never tried it personally.

Since you mention he has had some lesser issues with peeing outside the box his entire life, it could be a food allergy that worsened due to stress or age. A recent cat that came through the rescue I work with was peeing everywhere, after much vetting and tests we started to lean towards an allergy and found that when we fed him anything with grain or chicken he got much worse. He is now adopted out to a home that is feeding him a duck based diet.

Please look in to ALL other options besides getting rid of your cat- a 12 year old with health/behavior issues will not make it out of a shelter alive.
