:wavey: hello, I just joined this site, I am looking to get some advice on our new adopted feral kitten (4 months old) female who we have named Maggie May. She has been checked over by my local veterinary, had all her jabs etc...... I am keeping her in the bathroom at the moment with food, water, cat litter and a comfy little bed in a cat carrier. Which is nxt to the radiator. At first and understandably, she stayed in the cat carrier. My husband and myself have been going in to see her, talk to her, and, feed her. She is getting more confident with us and she let let me pet her, she started to purrrrrrr........:clap:but, I didn't over do it. We have a male cat, Bruce who is 10 and, he is very shy towards other people. He has lived with other cats of mine since he was a kitten but, unfortunately my 2 cats passed away. Does anyone no when I should be taking him out of his comfort zone (the bathroom) into r living quaters, and, to meet Her brother Bruce. I have a biggish cage to put her in for when they meet. She'll b in her cage so they can sniff each other first. I have been letting each cat smell each others scent by letting them both sniff each others blankets. When is it safe to bring her out of bathroom to do allvthis please?:rbheart:

I would allow her a little time to adjust to being a housecat - maybe a week or so. Keep doing what you are doing, though; you have it under control.  You can try giving them each a treat while they are on one another's blankets.  They will associate the treat with the other cats smell.

You can use baby gates or a screen door on the bathroom door to separate Maggie and Bruce for the initial introductions.  You can try the crate but it may make her feel a little trapped if Bruce is out and she's in.

You can also let her out into the house and Bruce into the bathroom a couple of times to let them familiarize themselves with each other's smells on the house and mix their smells.  If they like to be brushed, use the same brush - it will also mix their smells.

Unless she is really active, you shouldn't have too much trouble with them meeting.  Bruce may not feel like playing with her, so you may end up entertaining her to keep her from pestering him.

Thanks for rescuing her!
