My male was DX with UTI back in March 2014. He has been on Royal Canin SO wet & dry, but I give mostly wet with added water.

He had a stone in bladder when DX and was put on this strict food to see if stone would desolve. It has been 7 months and NO relapses.

I was wondering if Ican change him to ANY wet food, thoughs & opinions welcomed. He has not had any other food or treats since he was DX.

Of course the vet wants me to bring him in more more xrays, leave him there all day for urine, etc but I would not consider surgery unless of emergency.

WHY does the Vet want you to bring him in for xrays, etc, if he isn't showing any signs of issues?  That seems curious to me

Well....in answer to your question.  Stones are something I have never had to deal with, and normally I don't like the ingredients in prescription food, but I DO know that stones are definitely an issue with certain cats, and that the prescription food definitely helps.
I'm thinking if things are going along nicely on the existing food, why change it?  Doesn't he like it, or is it getting to be too expensive, or are you just looking to feed him something with better ingredients?  I have read that adding extra water is good to do (to ANY food for UTI cats), and trying to keep the stress down is also good.  Other than that, if you really want to switch food, then I would at least steer clear of anything with fish in it, as i've heard it's bad for UTI cats.
