Going to the pet food stores later this afternoon for Coch. What is the graviest food out there? Going to be standing in the cat food aisle shaking cans and pouches.

Had a blip afternoon with the old woman. She did not eat her usual pates mixed with water and would only lick gravy and was very dehydrated by the evening. Had to give subq fluids twice yesterday. This morning she is back and eating, and howling to go out on the balcony. I need to have some gravies on hand. Baby food is a no-go.

Thank you in advance.

I suppose gravy lovers by fancy feast if it is not about quality at this point. You could mash up the bits if she did not like it!I suppose! You could turn any food into soup with little hand blender.

Yes.  My two old guys will eat FF Gravy Lover's.  If you have a Petco nearby, you could try the Soulistic pouches.  My cats don't like the cans of Soulistic food because the chunks of meat are too big but the pouches have lots of broth/gravy and the meat is shredded smaller.

Thank you for your replies. Yesterday, it was all about the gravy. The chunks were not touched, only licked. Mashing didn't work - it just meant there was less gravy. Soupy pate didn't work - that's what she usually gets.

We are at the stage where I offer her good-for-her food and if she eats it - great. But really, she's 17, has multiple issues, and she's dying. We've started letting her eat whatever she will eat (limiting fish). At this stage, eating is better than not eating. If she doesn't like something, she'd rather go hungry, but she doesn't have the weight to lose.

There are a couple of recipes online (not complete food, but then the gravy on its own is probably not a complete food). This company offers a gravy with taurine (with mixed reviews).  http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?pcatid=20520

I know there is nothing more frustrating than trying to find something, anything, that they will eat.  You're right, at this point all you care about is that they are eating.  My cat food stash looks like a grocery store at this point because I'm trying to do the same thing.  I found that Tippy likes fancy feast beef pate with warm water mixed in it so that it's kind of soupy.

I completely understand.  I've been down that road with three cats now--in the end, you just want them to eat, and whatever they want, they get!  Fortunately, mine like baby food, so I water it down to the consistency of gravy and pour some of that over the food (which is already soupy because I add a lot of water to it).  I'd not heard of that VitaGravy you mentioned, I will have to check that out.

I've used a dog product called Muttstard (they have Petchup too but it has garlic high on the ingredient list so I ruled that one out :/). It's a turkey-based gravy. It's not complete but it does have vitamins.

I have found that Soulistic from Petco has a lot of gravy. It's like a thicker chicken broth. My 2 love the Good Karma (shredded white meat chicken in gravy) and the Harvest Sunrise (Good Karma with bits of pumpkin). This food is made by Weruva but my 2 girls seem like it better than Weruva. I get it for $1.09 for a 3 oz can. It's Sophie's #1 favorite but they both gobble it up and love the gravy. They have ones in gelee also but those have carrageenan in them if you are trying to avoid that stuff. I stick to the ones in gravy. Good luck!

Our cats like Harvest Sunrise, too, as well as all Weruva's Cats in the Kitchen canned foods that have chicken -- those foods have something in between gravy and the Soulistic gelee that Kat0121 mentions. All those foods went over well with our previous cat, too: she was also an old woman with lots of health problems (and dying, most likely of lymphoma). She'd always loved licking the gravy off her food but started enjoying all kinds of Weruva and Soulistic shreds -- actually eating a fair bit of the meat, especially, oddly, Steaks Frites -- in her final months. She also loved Merrick's Cowboy Cookout if I pureed it in the mini-processor with extra water.

I hope you find something else your cat will eat, cocheezie, I know how difficult this is.

I didn't have much luck at the one pet store I went to today. I had to go there because I'd ordered a case of something for my other cat. I asked what the gravest food they had was. They suggested Weruva, so I picked up some Paw Licking Chicken. I'll go to a different store tomorrow and look for Soulistic, etc. I need to have a lot on hand if we have another blip and it's a gravy only day.

I'm too tired today. Flu shot, pet food store, grocery store), market. There isn't one pet store in the area that carries everything I need to buy. A big cat food is like a road trip, and can involve going to 3 stores + the vet. Canada doesn't get the online deals that the US of A gets.

Try Fancy Feast Broths. It's not complete but it will get some moisture into her

I have not seen FF broth in any of the pet stores. I tried Weruva Lickin Chicken today, even though Cochise is having a good day. I need to know what gravies she will eat and won't. She looked in the bowl at the Lickin Chicken, looked at me, and said with her eyes: "are you serious? this is a joke, right?" The feral's getting Lickin Chicken tonight. Coch has never liked Weruva.

I did manage to go to another pet store today, and picked up a few things. This store did not have Soulistic or Good Karma (I don't think they are sold in Canada - thank you, though). I tried her on the BFF pouch of tuna and chicken. Extremely strong smell. She ate, and wanted more very badly. So much fish is not good for her, but will get another packet or two for possible necessity down the road. Also picked up some Wellness pouches to try, and something else that I can't remember the name of offhand. All-in-all, not the best food for her, but eating is better than not eating when and if she has days when she is not attracted to her usual good food.
