I took in a feral cat I had been feeding when I saw she had a kitten.  I was able to catch the mother, and had her spayed.  I have been keeping the mother in a back bedroom by herself.  After about a month we caught the kitten.  We had the kitten spayed as well.  The mother continued to come out not as much but a bit when the kitten was added to her room.  When she did come out all she did was sit in a window, but she came out.  Then I had them checked for worms.  They have several types of worms and a single cell infestation.  I don't remember what it was called.  I started the medicine.  I finished the worm meds, and I am a few days into the other medicine.  They have to get it for 10 days.  Then have to wait 3 weeks to have them tested again.  Since I started the meds the mom has not come out at all.  I am getting concerned that she is not coming out at all.  The kitten started to play with me and is eating in front of me.   I want them to adjust.  I don't have a ton of time to spend with them, since I have triplets.  I get in a bit at night, but is it short.  I check on them at least 3 times a day.  I wish I knew what to do to make the mom cat more happy, so she would adjust.  I hope she is not to sick to come out. Any suggestions would be helpful.

First off, bug props to you for taking ANYTHING on with having triplets!!

I wonder why vet didn't give you a simpler way of treating them, via an injection from him, etc rather than 10 days of meds? Wow.

Anyway, bottom line here is getting them well and healthy, there will be plenty of time for mom to forgive and forget the meds you have made her take.

Of course as you know, the more time spent with them the better and sooner to adapt, but it will happen regardless.

I'm sure they will be grateful for your taking them in and caring for them :)

I wouldn't worry too much. Unless she seems sick, she is making the adjustment to inside life on her own terms. Your house is probably quite active, so she may be shy about exploring. Spend some time with her when you can and let her make her adjustments at her own speed.

Bless you for taking on the challenge. You are definitely a saint!
