Just saw a flea. Funny, cats haven't been acting like there are fleas around. I've got Advantage Multi 9 to do Cocheezie, but when I went to get the box of Advantage Multi 18 for my other guy, the box was empty. I must have given it to my neighbour who can get close to the local feral.

So, I can do Cocheezie tonight after her subq, but can't do Rover Grover until tomorrow afternoon at the earliest. Since Cocheezie is anemic, she needs to be done right away.

1. Will the time difference mean anything?

2. Can I double up the Multi 9 for Rover Grover? According to the literature, I think so. Adv9 seems to be half the dosage of Adv18 Has anyone done this?

I must do Cocheezie tonight because of the anemia, but if I can cut the expense by not using up 2 vials of the 9, that would be great.

Edit: it's a moot point. Only have 2 vials of the Advantage Multi 9, and Cocheezie gets one. Looks like it's a drive to the vet tomorrow.

If your cats don't go out, you would be better off with Advantage II, which has a second ingredient that kills the flea eggs and larvae, and it's much easier on their systems.  The Advantage Multi has moxidectin, which deworms and protects against heartworm.  A very few cats are sensitive to it (it's in the avermectin family) and just as with certain dogs, it can cross the blood/brain barrier, and the Advantage Multi does NOT have the pyriproxifen which kills the larvae and eggs which is extremely important for INSIDE cats.

Also, Advantage Multi for Cats clearly states on its label "DO NOT USE ON SICK, DEBILITATED, OR UNDERWEIGHT CATS.  SEE ADVERSE REACTIONS."   If Cocheezie is anemic and getting subQ, that would qualify as sick or debilitated.  If I were you, I would wash it off and replace it with Advantage II after you get some from the vet.

Darn. Thank you for that information. Just got back from the vet ($70 for 4 vials) and did Grover Rover. Did Cocheezie last night. She has never had a reaction to the Advantage Multi. I've been using it on her all flea season. They do go out. Cocheezie on a leash, Grover Rover sometimes on a leash, sometimes with us by his side. He is in contact with other cats. And we do have a feral that comes in the door and waits patiently for food. He eats inside in the winter with the door wide open.

If flea season extends another month, I'll pick up the Advantage II for her.

Thank you again.

Since you are located in the "Great White North," mosquito season will soon be over (carriers of heartworm), as will flea season, and then there is no reason at all for the moxidectin, and even the Advantage II won't be necessary for a few months.  Also, because regular Advantage doesn't contain the moxidectin, you can get plain Advantage and Advantage II without a prescription, so you can get good deals on eBay.

Thanks for the info. I'm hoping I've given them their last dose until spring. I'll give my last Advantage Multi (small cat) to my neighbour who can get closer to the local feral than I can. I doubt Cocheezie will last until spring.
