I know most people do not agree with feeding kibble but I have to . My cats will not eat wet food , and yes I have tried it all .. They will eat Fancy Feast Kitten Turkey pate but only if I mix a  whole can of water  with 1 can of food then divide between them but  that is not enough nutrition for a main diet

so I have to give at least 1 meal a day of kibble ..

Right now they are eating Royal Canin but I need to find something with  no grain and low carb ..

I like either Wysong Epigen  or Evo . If  I transition them very slowly I think  either one would work .

I am leaning towards Wysong Epigen because it has the lowest carbs , less than 5%  but it has 60% protein ..

Is that  too much protein ? It sounds like an awful lot ..

I am still going to give them as much of the FF pate that they will eat but they will still need to eat some kibble ..

Which kibble would be the better choice ?

I got the free sample of epigen, but Mosi didn't want it. The ingredients look really good. I haven't tried the evo. Why not get both?
I mix Wellness Core Kitten with Natures Variety chicken and that is for grazing. I use all three flavor a of Acana for scheduled feedings 3x a day with water. I will throw in Orijen 6 Fish sparingly as well. That's 4 brands to serve and gives me alternatives if there is a formula change.
How did we end up with these headstrong kitties? They give us fits when we offer wet and we get lectured here for what we have no choice to feed.......

Yeah my cats did not like the Wysong Epigen Chicken so they may like any other flavor either .  I may just get a 2 lb bag of the Evo and try that . I will have to mix with the Royal Canin for awhile  .They hate change ...

I don't think you can have TOO much protein for a cat.  BTW, I actually prefer the Wysong Epigen 90!  But either of the foods you mention are good, for kibble

I have been feeding Evo dry to my finicky eater for years. They recently changed the formula and he won't eat it now. Evo just had another voluntary recall. I would go with something else. I am in desperate search of a new dry food that my boy will eat. I've tried dozens and no luck so far.

Since you responded to this post I guess I will give a little update .

I have since gotten my cats to eat can food .  They eat  Purina Beyond Grain Free Pate ..

I did not go with either of the kibble brands in my original post ..

My cats are now eating Young Again Zero Carb kibble .. My picky cats really like and are doing well on it .

If you are interested contact Young Again Pet Foods and they will happily send you some samples  . They have several different formulas to choose from ..

My cat loved Epigen 90 but it made her poop super dark and smelly. Sometimes it even became mushy. I do think that while the majority of their nutrition needs to come from animal protein, there are cats who cannot tolerate super high protein. We need to keep in mind that cats are domesticated animals now. Their systems have adjusted somewhat to their environments. With that said, I do not think a dry food formula should dip below 36% protein. Ideally, it should be at a minimum 39% to 40% protein. When I tried to put my girl on a 62% protein kibble (Wysong Epigen 90), it did terrible things to her poop. Right now, I have her on a rotation between Nature's Variety Instinct Dry Rabbit Formula and Nature's Variety Instinct Dry Chicken formula. They are still a bit too high in carbohydrates, but most if not all of the protein comes from animal sources. The Rabbit has peas, but no potatoes. The Chicken lacks peas and potatoes.

Keep in mind that my baby only gets 1/4th a cup of dry food per day. The rest of her food - and the main staple of her diet - are grain free, very low carbohydrate wet foods (Nutro Natural Choice, some Fancy Feast, once and a while some big cans of Nature's Variety Instinct and Merrick). Basically, each cat is an individual and as such each cat is going to have very specific needs/ While each cat MUST have animal protein and while the number one most important thing for a cat is animal protein, the amount etc. that each cat needs is going to vary a bit.

Maybe if I slowly work her up to a higher animal protein, lower carb dry food, it might work in the future?

I agree , all cats are different. What works for one cat may not work the other ..
