I'm trying to figure out what causes him to throw up. I only feed them wet food once a day because I have 7. It gets expensive as well as i have trouble  finding kinds they will eat.

I decided i would give them each an extra wet feeding. once per week. In replace of their dry at 7pm.  So tonight I give Sy Guy a lttle over an once of wet. Well within 10 minutes he threw it up.  Same food he has eaten before, same time he would normally eat dry with no problems.  It was leftover, just a bit over an ounce.  He has thrown up sometimes in the past if he eat to much.

So im not sure this was the issue or because i threw him off schedule and gave him wet instead of his usual dry.  I feel so bad, now he has no food in his stomach and worry it is bad for him system, fluids etc.

Anyone have a cat who is sensetive to change or cannot eat to much with out throw up?

PS he gets 1/4 of dry in the am, an ounce in the afternoon. Then 1/8 cup dry twice at night.

It could be the food doesn't agree with his system.  Many cats can't tolerate canned fish foods, so you might try all turkey or chicken and not a blend.

If this is just one incident I wouldn`t worry about it.   Cats throw up for a variety of reasons so it could be a reaction to the food or a hairball or something else.   If the vomiting becomes frequent then you need to look into the cause.

I think the clue is in your statement that you had given him a bit extra. Is he a fast eater? He could have lost his dinner because he bolted it down and simply had too much in his stomach. I would not be concerned unless the vomiting is frequent (daily) or he shows obvious signs of listlessness or distress. Throwing up is a hobby for most cats.

I respectfully have to disagree.   It`s a hobby for SOME cats and usually indicates they have a chronic condition, illness, or a reaction to some ingredient in the food.

Healthy cats do not vomit if the food is agreeable to their system.

It has happened before. He ate the same food he has eaten before. So that wasnt the problem. He usually only gets an ounce of wet each day. (along with the dry).  But each at different times. It has been the times I have given him more then 1 ounce of wet food that he has thrown it back up. Thats the only thing i can think of. I know it wasnt more then an ounce and a half. Doesnt seem like a lot. So thats why i asked, if anyone has had issues with cats who cannot eat to mcuh food at one time. Though he gets 1/4 cup of dry in the am and does just fine. I just have been sticking with the one ounce, but tonight i had a little more then an ounce so i gave it all to him.  But it didnt stay down :(

Yes, some cats can't eat too much at one time, although 1 oz really isn't very much.  I wouldn't worry too much about it, though, unless it continues to happen.  Sometimes a cat will just throw up, just like WE do, and there may not be any specific reason why....it just happens.  But if it's a trend, then you need to try to figure out why and fix it.   It could even be that he ate a bug earlier in the day that didn't digest well.  I've seen that in one of my cats' throw up before.  I DO have a sick cat, so each time she throws up I pray that it's a hairball and examine it to find out the reason
